Kriptini: "Tanoomba, what video games do you play?"
I very much enjoy 3rd person sandbox action games (GTA, Saint's Row, Assassin's Creed, Shadow of Mordor, the Arkham games, Just Cause, etc). I'm currently nearing the end of Arkham Knight, but I imagine it will take me a while to get all the Riddler trophies (I may or may not try to 3-star all the challenges, depending on how tricky they are). I still love more "old-fashioned" action and/or platforming games too. Duck tales Remastered, Double Dragon Neon, Rayman Legends, and Sonic Generations are a few I really liked. I'm not big on FPSs (I play primarily with a controller), but I did play the shit out of Bioshock 1 & 3 and FarCry 3. I can get into puzzle games and enjoyed Portal 1 & 2, Quantum Conundrum, Fez, and a few others. Some roguelikes tickled my fancy, such as Rogue Legacy and Risk of Rain. I don't play traditional RPGs as much as I used to (except for the Mario & Luigi series) but I loved South Park: The Stick of Truth. I still love retro gaming; I've got a reasonably large collection of games I grew up with and can play those pretty much any time and still enjoy them, particularly the NES and SNES stuff. Sometimes a game I wouldn't expect to like will dig its hooks into me, like Awesomenauts (I generally don't get into competitive games but it's my most-played Steam game by a long shot) or Pinball Arcade. I like indie stuff too (as long as it's reasonably polished, competent and fun), so I enjoyed Super Meat Boy, the Binding of Isaac, Hunie Pop, and, yes, Gone Home.
Not so much into simulation games, resource management/strategy games, or sports games. My brother's Wii U is being repaired and I already purchased Mario Maker so I know I'm going to play that a lot, but while I have the console I also intend to play through Super Mario 3D World and get my Smash Bros fix (I have the 3DS version but it's not quite the same). I do often go through portable gaming phases, especially when I get into a particular title. I'm playing through Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story now, after having cleared all the other games in the series (which I recommend highly).
I mean, "What video games do you play?" is kind of a loaded question. I've been head-over-heels in love with video games since I was six years old. I love a ton of vastly different types of games and will give anything a fair chance. A well-designed game, regardless of genre, will just engross me and make me feel like sitting down for hours manipulating virtual characters is meaningful and worthwhile. That "top 10 SNES RPGs" video I put in the video thread repeatedly gave me goosebumps, especially the fawning over FF6, which I can still remember my first experience with like it was yesterday.
I put up pics of my NES game collection a while back, if you're curious:
