I never claimed it wasn't the offended people's problem, nor did I claim that Sargon owes them anything. But if you make jokes about raping public figures (sorry,notraping public figures), it's a damn near guarantee that people are going to be upset, and not without reason.
A reasonable response is: "So fucking what? It was a joke! They don't like it, they can suck my balls."
A retarded response is: "Why are they upset? I specifically said Iwouldn'trape her! Sonotraping people is patriarchy now??? Hurr durr."

Just to clarify, I'm not assigning any inherent value to "being offended". If people get offended at a joke, I don't think action needs to be taken to appease said offense.
Having said that, I'm a little surprised at the audacity displayed here by people who seem to be attempting to define what people should or shouldn't be offended by. Who the fuck cares if YOU thought something wasn't offensive? Offense is highly, HIGHLY subjective. Believe it or not, there are people who think rape jokes are in poor taste and are upset by them. Nobody is in a position to tell them they are "wrong" for being offended.
Sargon's joke didn't offend me. It was just stupid. But when you make rape jokes on a platform as public as Twitter, how the fuck can you NOT expect some people to get pissed off? You don't have to give a shit that people are offended (I sure don't), but it's asinine to try to portray that offense as some kind of cultish, up-means-down religious zealotry when it's just people upset by a shitty rape joke. The "But I said Iwouldn'trape her, so their offense is invalid!" defense is all kinds of stupid, and the "It didn't offendme, so their offense is invalid!" defense is only slightly less so.
