What is the reasonable doubt that the 'Emma is a Victim' narrative present?
- No history of lying about rape.
- Perfectly reasonable explanation for the Facebook exchanges that took place after the alleged rape.
- Her behavior after the fact was not unusual or unheard of among rape victims.
- Nungesser's behavior after the fact also fit her description of what happened.
- No indication she was pressuring him into a relationship or otherwise felt shunned by him.
- No indication of any reason at all why she would lie about being raped.
- Her video project, if an accurate representation of what happened, illustrates a rape that's more "consensual sex escalates to weird levels quickly" than "creepy pervert selects victim to have non-consensual sex with".
- I've known art students. I was an art student. I understand how people can attempt to make a statement through their art about something incredibly personal to them.
Everything that people present as "proof" that she lied is, at best, circumstantial and in all cases has an alternate reasonable and feasible explanation that doesn't involve her lying. Now, I'm not trying to convince anybody to see things how I do, I know that's a fool's errand. But it is
nowhere nearas clear-cut and obvious a case as many here attempt to portray it as. It all comes down to how we interpret the information, which is subjective and shaped by personal experiences, worldviews and biases. Therefore, arguing what we personally believe is more likely in this case is pretty pointless and irrelevant.
All to say I never claimed she was raped.
