I always get in trouble when talking about tech history and am like "DivX yo lol know where that started? well at LAN parties if someone saw you had the DivX player / decoder installed we would raz you about it"

b/c it was for porn at the start.

Beta was so much better, even the machines were…graceful compared to VHS. VCRs would eject tapes with a clunky chunk and grating of plastic. Even rewinding machines were torque machines of grinding gears. Meanwhile beta ejection was an engineering dream.

For peeps that do not know, those lower lines are cable TV/Phone/Fiber/etc not power lines. The power cables are on the top with the worse one (the grounded) in the middle on an insulator. Those are bad news. The blue flash was that pole mounted transformer blowing. Still wild has hell.
