Seriously? People are still on this non-story? LOTS of 501(c)(4) groups were targeted. WHY? Because they're fucking bullshit to begin with. They don't keep donor lists, so they can easily be used to launder money. Their entire legal foundation is shaky to begin with. They all need to be investigated.

The only reason more conservative groups were seemingly 'targeted' is because making tea party PACs has become a huge fad, so there's more of them to target, and because a fundamental pillar of their platform is that they don't like paying taxes, they're certainly more likely to be abused for laundering money or other tax-avoidance purposes.
Further, the whole process of investigating the IRS 'scandal' has been abused to solicit donations to Darrell Issa's re-election fund. And it's a ploy that's paid off massively, money he doesn't really need being the richest person in congress...
You really need to wake up and see who's actually being fleeced and scammed in this mess.

The problem in my eyes is that the Presidents, from both sides of the aisle, have used the IRS to target their political enemies for years. FDR, Kennedy, Nixon, Clinton, W Bush are all guilty of doing it and probably a lot more we don't know about. It's bullshit no matter who does it and it shouldn't matter if the people they are targeting are on your "side" or not. Especially scary now that the IRS enforces ACA penalties, determines eligibility etc.
