This is just a tech demo with limited content, so it’s pretty easy to "cheat" the system. I’ve talked to some people who work with Unreal, and they all said it’s not great at streaming open-world content. CryEngine is way better at that, but it’s an older engine. I didn’t see any enemies like you’d expect in The Witcher 3, and the bear in the water seems scripted, which probably explains how it’s running at 60 FPS on a basic PS5. Honestly, I’m doubtful it’ll stay that smooth at launch without cutting something big. Maybe they’ll go for a world with fewer, but harder, encounters.
From what I’ve seen, the world maps feel kinda like a mix of open world and corridors it remind me of Elden Ring’s Liurnia of the Lakes. High vantage points, natural barriers, and things like tunnels or cliffs hiding loading zones between areas. Not a bad thing at all...I’d actually love to see devs work smart and focus on clean, optimized data instead of just hoping players have the latest GeForce GPU.
As for the crowd, it’s cool, but they seem to spawn in really small areas.
Not complaining... I like it when devs are smart with their choices.
