PC had as many people walking around in the cyberpunk tech demo at launch. Potatostation 4 is the main reason the game got so much shit

"Guys, why can't my emachine I bought at Walmart with a voodoo 3dfx card with 4mb of memory get the same gfx as the demo???"
I had a pretty good computer at launch and I had many issues. I even asked for a refund and bought it back when it was fixed a year or so later.

Yup. A few coworkers and I played EQ in 2000 and one of them (a bit of a dumbass who made too much money) bragged about buying an SMR for the low, low price of...150 (real) dollars. No one was slinging those things around in their prime to random strangers as a potential entree to imaginary pixel holes.

I can only imagine what else that guy spent his real money on in-game that he didn't admit to.

i had a 1080ti at launch and it was... playable. we'll go with that. but once i got a 3090? smooth as butter. was nice to have a game that actually utilized GPU's properly for once.

I paid my cousin $100 for an eq necklace that turned me into a skeleton. I was 15yo and worked 20 hours a week as a dishwasher for $6/hrs. I bragged about it to my guild and they all made fun of me for buying it.

Our server had so many ebayers, especially in vanilla. One guy named oaklandbash on our server was infamous for it. A monk named Felonian sold his monk for around 4,000 and he was only like level 40

I remember a monk in our guild got the pants from AoW in Velious and then turned around and sold them for a ton of money.

I should have sold my monk when it was actually worth something!
