I'm playing Throgg now. He's an easy low level doom stack with ice trolls recruited at rank 2. You can mow over everything in auto resolve even on very hard battle difficulty. Add in some firmir warriors on your other lords when you can afford them at rank 3 and you probably have the best low level armies in the game. Compared to chaos minotaurs at rank 4 or 5 or whatever. It's crazy power. I still don't have my economy sorted out or the monster hunts but it's easy mode really. You auto confederate all the minor norsca factions just rofl stomping their leader in combat so super easy confederations too. Most "bad" factions will befriend you pretty quickly too. And you can even get easy vassals by trading 1 minor territory. Other than the economy taking longer to get going this is probably an easier campaign than even chaos or wood elves who only need a handful of settlements to win.

Is this really a top seller game plan? What about the jade vampires?

how the fuck do they need until summer to bring Nagash?

there is already a mod that does that, and probably does it better then CA will

these release schedules are a joke

the only attraction i see in tiger people DLC is nuking the shit out of them with skaven, an actually cool race

Pricing is up on Steam I was curious since that looked huge so I expected it'd cost a bunch and yeah. They're actually selling each LL pack as a separate DLC, $8.99 each, can buy all 4 for $30, every DLC comes with the usual stuff like additional hero+lord and 4-5 new units on top of the LL. Planned release September 24th, also has a bunch of free content including Vampire Counts and Archaon the Everchosen reworks, free Neferata the Vampire Queen legendary lord and a bunch of changes to campaign objectives and endgame scenarios for older stuff.

Nagash and Thanquol being able to recruit every single unit in their factions(Nagash even covers all undead so Vampire Counts, Vampire Coast and Tomb Kings) is pretty cool.

All things considered, $30 isn’t bad for big, last-hurrah DLC.

It is pretty expensive but in terms of money/time it's always good ratios in this game, especially a LL like Nagash you can easily do more than one run with entirely different armies. Personally I'll grab Nagash and Thanquol if I have nothing to do, and the rest I'll wait for a sale/ignore, since I really don't care about the other 2.

Like I've spent a lot over the years buying a bunch of DLCs for all 3 of the games, and some I haven't even played, but I never feel bad about it cause I played like 600hours between the 3 games so it's fine. And like sure I've played even more "efficient" games but at a certain point I stop caring, if I enjoyed myself for a reasonable amount of time I'm happy about the money.

Why is it that one of the Norsca factions always end up being the main rival for my empire in late game

Glad they're making him OP compared to other LLs, because he absolutely should be, but I hope they manage to still make the campaign somewhat challenging (increased anti-player bias, more Order-tide than normal, difficult quest battles, etc.).

They're releasing a video about the changes to endgame and what not I think later today or tomorrow, and yeah maybe they'll talk about the endgame specifically for Nagash to make it harder. Presumably he won't have any allies other than the other undead LLs(and even these might be hostile like Settra) and it'd make sense if he had massive diplomacy penalties with everyone else so he has to fight his way out of everything but we'll see.

I ended up grabbing all the dlc bundles (so most of the lords but not all) when they were doing their big sales the other week after I finished the PoE league up. Been doinking around on a lot of different campaigns on Immortal Empires and having fun but I have always sucked at combat in Total War games and so I use auto resolve a lot. If anyone has a recommendation for a youtube that has some decent beginner combat guides so I don't have to do a bunch of digging on my own to find one, that'd be nice. Only Total War stuff i've been watching really has been LegendOfTotalWar, mostly his "save my campaign" disaster battle stuff but haven't dug through his channel to see if he ever bothered doing noob guides (probably not i'd guess).

I've never put too much effort into learning combat as I'm a terrible RTS player but pausing a lot and doing the most basic shit with like tanky bois in front, archers/artillery in back, horseys on the sides and big nuke spells on stacked stuff works well enough and will yield better results than autoresolve in tense fights most of the time. The main reason is you can focus fire all your ranged units on important shit and kill them quickly, which makes fights easier than just a 1:1 comparison like the autoresolve tries

That said autoresolve will also give better results some other times especially when it looks like you'll get smoked but then it calculates some weird shit and gives you an event fight(if you play it you get completely smashed unless you're godtier at micro and/or use cheese strats).

So I still autoresolve a lot, only manual the early fights and the fights the autoresolve bugs out on, like yeah I'm not losing 3 T5 units against a stack of peasants but sometimes autoresolve will do that.

There's definitely some guides by various content creators, the most useful tips I found back then was how to setup your formations and move stuff around in formation, I forgot how it's done cause I haven't played in years but it's shit like ctrl shift click and what not, so your units move as line instead of bunching up together like idiots.

So they streamed some of the new stuff and I skimmed through the video cause it was super long and not very scripted so pretty annoying but anyway, in short:

There's 3 endgame scenarios like before, the End Times with Archaon leading, Vermintide with Thanquol and the Nagash one.

When the events start(you can pick which one you want, and you can pick multiple if you want to do them, one after the other though not all at the same time, default start turn is 80-120 but you can adjust it up to 200), every faction related will instantly confederate(so all Chaos with Archaon etc), while every other faction gets diplomacy bonuses with each other. The endgame armies can now devastate the land, which effectively remove the regions from being useable until you clear the endgame and also gives them a win state(if too much of the world is devastated you just lose, even if you yourself are still alive). This is visually represented in the world with the lands being changed, destroyed and corrupted so it looks quite neat. There's a variety of objectives to do before you can win, basically kill enough stuff and collect things then do a final battle. The difficulty of the final battle depends on how much you've been doing during the event, ranging from impossible if you haven't been doing shit(Archaon's army starts with 100% ward save for example) to probably rather easy if you have.

After that they showed a bit of Archaon's campaign itself and it looks better with the ability to confederate every chaos armies(including demons and norsca) and such. Then when you achieve short victory, you get a prompt to start the endgame with you as the actual endgame threat(you can refuse if you don't want to do it and presumably if you've picked another endgame it'll start later instead). You get to go around devastating the land(can't do anything but raze in fact) and you get stronger as you do and win if you devastate enough. Now it's kinda unclear if you can do this with Nagash and they apparently mentionned you can't with Thanquol, so still not sure how these will be handled when played. Because their mechanics are weirder I could see both not being available, like Vermintide constantly spawns free armies everywhere the undercity reaches and all Skaven units are doubled in unit count so as the player it'd be a bit broken.

Bunch of other smaller stuff but better wait for patch notes/official write up anyway. Overall looks quite good though.
