Total War: Warhammer

They've been doing some livestreams showcasing faction mechanics and showed off Nagash:



The Black Pyramid mechanic looks nuts, looking forward to this one.

Skaven and Nagash got really strong units and mechanics. Boris got…..nothing.

Yeah but you can just play elspeth and confederate him. Empire just got a major update.

Yeah, I'm just going to confederate Boris on my 100th Karl Franz playthrough anyway. As long as he's good as a LL, I'm happy.

...Also, we haven't fully seen whatever his faction mechanics are, have we? I'm sure they won't be as ridiculous as Nagash, but they really shouldn't be anyway.

Boris has his own campaign mechanics:

Only messed with Nagash a bit so far. He's a fucking beast, but trying to keep your territory is a real bitch with the basically non-existent garrisons in anything other than a Necropolis.

Shockingly easily!

I played about 20 turns of Nagash's campaign last night, and it's really great. Settra is going to be one of your first targets (you need to kill him for the Short Victory conditions), and Settra still has both Mannfred and Skarbrand breathing down his neck. I suspect that playing a Legendary Settra campaign will be one of the harder campaigns now.

As for Nagash - the campaign is fantastic so far. I'm not very deep into it, but my general take is that - while Nagash himself is a powerhouse - he can't be everywhere at once. The Necromatic Energy currency he uses is in very short supply early on, as are sigils to empower the Black Pyramid and do your tech research. Luckily, it's very easy to recruit Arkhan the Black as your first Mortarch, which helps with getting a second strong army up and running. I particularly like the Black Pyramid, as it forces you to really think about your armies and campaign goals.

Loving this DLC so far, even though I just scratched the surface. I know it's going to eat up my entire weekend, and I'm looking forward to it.
