Started watching, 15 minutes in we get the evil white man being evil against poor chinese. Protagonist is horrified by evil whites although he is one himself

This movie was good. Don't think I would have enjoyed it as much when I was younger, but it handles loss and the years disappearing very well. Edgerton is becoming one of my favorites.

The anti-white and anti-christian bullshit in this movie. To be fair, the chinese shit is historically accurate but everything Hollywood regurgitates today is this white man evil bullshit while completely ignoring the other side of that coin. For the anti-christian shit... I'm agnostic but I'm beyond tired of the Christian hate. It's so fucking boring.

Same here. I really enjoyed this. It's a slow, slow burn and not really a feel good movie though.

Also, this movie didn't trigger my woke gag reflex at all.

there was one scene late in the film where the new forest ranger was discussing the glacier melts, and how they formed all the lakes around that area and how every culture had similar flood myths and those myths weren't limited to traditional Christian stories - it was a brief "woke" moment in a 1.5 hour film. Not particularly nauseating.
