I'm not following. S3 ending showed a fucking frozen ice dragon but then 30 seconds later forgot it existed and went back to boring "lol it was the indian chicks"

Whether you prefer supernatural elements or real world stuff, you've gotta hate S3

(Or was it S4? Anyway the Jodie Foster one. Maybe I forgot one)
There was no frozen ice dragon in season 3. I haven't seen season 4 so maybe that's it.

Season 1 was great by itself but the theory crafting we had going on here amplified it for me.

Your in for a lot of shit talking. Season 2 had some amazing moments but couldn't stick the landing

Colin couldn't save that season and he was awesome. The scene with the surgeon ****

Not trying to suck his dick but Farrell can make actors look like trash. I think it was Tigerland/phonebooth when I saw him lose himself. I think he takes his emotions out when he gets the chance on film

I agree with you on Farrell. Top notch actor. Vince was also spot on. Rachel McAdams or whatever her name is did a decent job but you could tell the roll was originally written for a man.

I think the main problem with Season 2 was the plot was just a bit to convoluted and too many sub-plots.

Just finished Season 3. Very good acting and directing. The overall plot was similar to 1, a bit of a "back to the basics". The ending was a bit of a surprise though. A decent surprise, to be honest. Not every show needs a dark and gritty ending.

Just started on Season 4 and you can tell that when it comes to production it has almost nothing in common with the other three series other than the name. I feel as if I'm watching some sort of love child of True Detective Season 1 and something like X-Files. It actually reminds me a bit of the TV show adaptation of The Terror from a few years back. Got the same feel - strange spooky shit in the dark and ice with polar bears and shit. In fact, I'm pretty sure there was some X-files episode that dealt with some remote ice-core drilling scientists that drilled too deep and woke up something spooky that killed them all.

Every time this thread is bumped my dick jerks thinking of Alexandra's perfect tits, ass and blue eyes. Here she is, pregnant with a lucky son of gun's seed.

One of the last great HBO nude scenes. By 2014 Game of Thrones was already cutting them out and there hasn't been much since.

Woody Harlson was one lucky sumufabeech in that first season getting to do hot sex scenes with three hot ladies.

Anyway, finished the final season. I have to say, the fourth season felt like the only thing it had in common with the other three was the name. Felt more like something out of X-files as I said above. I watched it with my Mother who loves Jodi Foster, but even after two episodes she was constantly telling me how she didn't like her in this thing and that she constantly swore like a drunken sailor.

I think I'm done with this series unless they bring back some of the original writers and producers. Still, good show for the first three seasons.

I'd absolutely watch it, but I can't imagine any way this isn't a letdown.
I don't know. I have some hope for it, but then again how many times do we get disappointed with Hollywood modern shit. I guess I'll just be hopefully optimistic, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Wonder where we'll go or do with the plot? Maybe they'll lean into hunting down the kiddy diddler underground. I mean if it was just like a full-fledged vigilante type season, that would be pretty good.

Just wait for the Season 4 showrunner to have a producer credit. This won't be Nic by himself.

Inclusiveness is still a priority for modern HBO. People are out of their minds if they think a female-led show (including the executive producer) is just suddenly going back to how it was.

1st season was the shit. Prob one of my fave TV ever. 2nd sucked, 3rd was OK, not as good as S1, but not too bad either. 4th was meh. It was like DEI the detective. Thats my take, at least.

Even with the wasted story arcs and rushed finale, I still have S2 over S3.

I've rewatched S2 again with friends. S3 was a one and done for a lot of people.

I would only rewatch season 1 (and have a few times). I don't necessarily regret watching the other seasons, but they were forgettable and I would need to look them up on Wikipedia to jog my memory on anything more than a vague recollection of the plot and actors.

I have zero confidence HBO can make a good show anymore, but I would have said that before Chernobyl too. So maybe there is that small chance of a surprise.

Yeah I didn't hate any of the seasons but S1 is the only one I have or would rewatch.

Not remotely a hot take or anything, but S1 is one of my favorite seasons of television ever. I certainly hope that they can capture that lightning in a bottle again, I just don't see how. Sure, a buddy not-cop show where they follow up and try to take down the pedophile ring from the top sounds interesting, but obviously won't have the same grab that we had in S1 with the multiple timelines, Rust's interviews, the evolution of their partnership over the years, the who-dunnit theorizing, etc.

I enjoyed season 2. Guess I'd rank them in the order they were released, one being best - four the worst. The only one I really hate is four, but even two and three have their moments and were enjoyable. Problem is they just set such a high bar with the first one, kind of hard to top.

Maybe with bringing McConaughey and harrelson back on board and continuing their storyline, we might get something pretty good, who knows.
