That was one thing I disliked when visiting Japan years ago - I've gotten so used to no smoking in restaurants that it was kind of a shock when I went to a few and half the booths are puffing away at their tables.

At first I was thinking this guy really messed up filming himself here, but I guess the guy on his hood and others have been stalking and harassing him and others and pulled a gun so it seems like a FAFO situation, and I think they're in Florida.

He should be ok. Not showing regard for life is going to be a problem though by the law.

If charged prosecutors can go for a higher charge based on his statement in the video which can be construed as a disregard for life.

He would have been 100% fine if he stayed quiet and said he thought it was a protestor. Even with a possible disregard for life, plenty of clips of these guys to explain his demeanor and actions like you said. Violent stalkers and possibly gang affiliated.

Perfect example how mass propaganda works. Just look back to the 40s and even before through the 80s and even early 90s. Almost everyone smoked. It was just as common here if not even more common. Then the propaganda came in and literally changed this viewpoint by the normies in less than a decade. This is not saying smoking good, or bad, just pointing out how powerful propaganda can be.

Local governments made it horribly inconvenient, and state governments added sin taxes to increase the price. A provision under Obamacare pays doctors like $20 per visit for smoking cessation which is why they always ask you if you are still smoking which can inform the populace as well.

As a former one, I don't mind. Bars and shit dont have the ventilation to deal with people smoking and it made going to Bourbon Street in New Orleans a pain even though I was smoking at the time.

This is true, but most people stopped not because it became more inconvenient, but because it became taboo to do so. People began to look at smokers as lepers. And I agree, the shit was gross as fuck. I still come in contact with smokers in the public and they all smell like fucking ashtrays.

I quit because I figured it was keep eating rare ass red meat or keep smoking.

However I stay off it because the smell. Smelling other smokers opened my eyes.

Thr irony of this post is glossing over that tobacco companies used propaganda to make people smoke

Riiiiight. Because the tobacco trade wasn't a thing prior to mass media ads....

Sorry, I should have rephrased. Tobacco companies used propaganda to counter claims about health issues caused by using tobacco - ads with "doctors" making claims that tobacco was safe, etc. You can find tons of that shit in the mid 20th century

What he was referencing was the fact that Edward Bernays (who is Sigmund Freuds nephew) made a publicity stunt to sell cigarettes to young women as "torches of freedom."
He is also the one who wrote the book "Public Relations", basically coining the term as an euphemism to propaganda.

You should watch the documentary "The century of the Self" from Adam Curtis. You can find it on Youtube. I cannot recommend this enough.
