Doesn't say when early access is expected, but there's a video by JackFrags about it in good depth:

TL;DR Battlefield Meets Squad Meets The Finals for ~$40. Not sure how well a server is going to run with destructible environments, vehicles, and a constant 100 people running around. But here's hoping it's not shit!

Yeap, I know not to get too hyped for anything anymore just about. (though that last trailer for crimson desert has me kinda interested after having 0 interest up until now)

From the other wardogs video I watched, I was somewhat skeptical of the premise working as far as king of the hill getting stale fast, or just like not working out great where one team can get too big of an advantage. Like a streamer said oh objective too tough try to earn enough points elsewhere to call in some heavy tanks/helos etc to break them out. But all of this is going to be tough to balance and make work right.

I didnt hear anyone say it, but it makes me kinda think of a modern day planetside 2, or certain RTS's in an FPS view.

Bit busy to watch the jackfrag video now, any mention of like a team /commander type person?

Assuming it doesn't run like complete shit, it looks like a fun 2-3 weeks before cheaters ruin it.

The video is pretty good in giving some information on a lot of the money system. For instance each life you buy a loadout and that can vary between weapons, ammo, armor type, equipment, and vehicles. But you can also yank dead people's stuff so maybe you can do eco runs with a cheapo gun and hope to get a kill or scavenge off your squadmates.

In terms of a commander, I don't think I heard anything about that. It seems to be made of squads like BF and you're kind of on your own, but there is prox chat (for both friend and foe) and I believe squad specific chat and MAYBE I heard something about team wide comms.

The interesting thing I saw which will be a real pain to balance, but seems like a good idea, is the money system is chained to events and players. So the instance Jackfrags got was if a guy spends 30k on a transport helicopter (you are given 10k to start I believe), but then loads up an entire squad into his helicopter, drops them into a hotzone, they score a bunch of team points, and then his helicopter is shot down, it doesn't matter because he's getting credit for transporting them. So he said a 30k expenditure and quick death with this sort of cooperation can still net that helicopter pilot 50k+ easily.

It did sound somewhat like Planetside 2, but with much smaller territories and on a short term match base rather than persistent. PS2 was pretty fun to just hop in and snipe or gun for a tank until you ran into the real money spender weapons and vehicles. With this game I could see that being a problem as money seems to persist for your account, not just the match. So some people may just go hobo for an entire game or two to wait later that night and sugar daddy their bros when they come online.

They also mention there's RuneScape-esque skills going to be built in where you passively get better at certain things such as reviving. They said if you revive people a shit ton you'll get passive level ups and end up reviving faster than another person. Depending on what they choose to level like this it could be pretty sweet having niche, specialized players.

I think the real problem, before the cheaters, is going to be performance. 100 people. One map. Destructibility. Vehicles everywhere. As long as they don't put lootables on the ground besides dead people boxes I think that will help keep things functioning more smoothly as a lot of early BR type games lagged severly because of all the assets placed all over the map. That's one of the reasons games like PUBG had stuff spawn in after you hit the ground so everyone in the plane didn't lag the fuck out while flying and rendering everything.

From the video, destructibility seemed “generic” the tank shot a wall, very obvious of the “section” it shot was in the upper left, the impact animation was there, but then a big smoke cloud and when it faded the “blown open” spot was more the entire height of the “square” and right.

Not that, that is not cool or awesome to pull off, but they are using tricks as is expected. The long range ballistic shot was low fps, the animations of smoke and stuff were jagged etc. again, all fine and good… to me this points to they are using tricks up their sleeve and I hope it all does result in good gameplay tha is doable with 33v33v33v 1 guy that didn’t know today was war day

Early Access September 10th. Pretty sure the launch will be VERY big, but afaik they're going straight from closed alpha's (which I unfortunately missed due to vacation) straight to Early Access. Could be a mess. Could be a fun mess. But the idea of a Planetside/Tarkov/BattleField hybrid tickles a LOT of the right spots.

Pre Order Beta is tomorrow so you'll at least be able to watch people play or see reviews of it. In the latest interview I saw the devs said this was designed for "dad gamers" so we'll see what the fuck that means.

Meant to watch the dad gamer video that people mentioned it but lost it off my suggested feed. But busy but this is one I've been excited for

Dunno if it's just because it's beta, but it's only 33v33v33. Pretty lame compared to the fact they were advertising this as 100v100v100.

Ok the battlefield elements kinda lacking, vehicles are clunky and jank as fuck imo. Too close to autistic arma or something. Like sometimes the heli will let me yaw in a circle, other times I can get about 90 then it stops me.

Messing around in shooting range may act different than in match, but 308 AP from tank wasn't damaging helo. Rockets tank ate quite a few and not too damaged. Shot a tank shell pretty close to landed helo no damage, went 85m away. Ditto no tank shell on helo damage. . Tank ate 200 helo 30mm cannon rounds no damage.

Minibird rockets wernt damaging the go cart, but did some damage to the parked attack helo.

So what damages what in firing range is all over.

Can refund b4 early release. Price increases as game develops. I'd say $40 is risky right now, maybe worth the $50 before release if they make big strides.

Helos mostly fine solo other than say mini guns on the blackhawk, mostly either transport/attack. Biggest issue only real combat vehicle tank is minimum 2 person really. Swapping seats slow clunky and you have to cycle thru some of the other positions as well. So no bf drive hummer up and swap quick to the gun.

The part I liked early on was vehicles were mostly transport, but now they're getting into the weaponized stage. Tanks are absolute terrors. I watched Shroud in his Apache he unlocked just bully the entire server until they dedicated two towers to AA guns.

Time to kill is getting pretty instant too, even at 100m+ with full auto guns. Not a huge fan of that when half the people are laying in bushes so you can't see them without recon tools to begin with. I unlocked the Mosin today and sat in one of the 5 story apartments and went 18 and 0 before they landed seal team six on my roof and I didn't have a glock to stop them. The starter sniper is so awful it makes sniping seem reasonable, but as soon as you get the Mosin it's instant death again. Maybe 2-3 armors and 3 helmets stop it, but it was just a center mass player destroyer.

I think when people get money and levels there will be more diversity and people will counter vehicles and vehicles will counter giga FOB's and etc etc etc, but right now I and most people I see run around with between 30-100k cash at like lvl 20ish, but then I see the big dogs and they're running around with 1.5million and running 20k kits.

At the high end everyone will probably have enough money to run whatever they want with 200 extra ammo and 4 grenades and 4 mags and an RPG etc etc etc. That's when the game will show itself for what its worth. Right now it's dudes with 2x scope SKS's versus M4 T3 Armor chad's and it's just not comparable. I mean unlocking the Apache was 500k itself, I'm not sure at level 22 or whatever I am I've even earned much more than that lifetime.

I do think the engineering/supply run stuff is interesting, but I've done nothing with it particularly. I do like the idea of FOB's to get a foothold and push points and respawn via APC's, but right now everyone is just kinda goofing and undiscipline so half the time the FOB's have nothing useful and the APC is parked in fucking noweheresville.

I do like it. It feels better than BF6 did for a "battle" type game I think because BF6 just had an awful mess of vehicle crutches and slide jumping COD bullshit. The non constant slide jump action canceling bullshit in this feels good. You can run, crouch, and prone. If you go prone in a fight you're fucking dead. No dolphin diving. You actually see people on angles you expect to see them to peak from rather than having some dude fucking Matrix slide 10 feet past the peak you're staring at and show up on another wall and blast you. I get enough of that dogshit in Apex right now.

I'd guess a good chunk of people refund this because it's VERY VERY squad reliant and not only are most people playing solo, but it doesn't auto squad you for some reason. The difference communicating and moving together versus lone wolf shit is night and day. Unless you're mega off-angle recon or something going alone is just eventual suicide. Rezzing is almost too regular in this game.

Debating if theres cheating problems already, had a couple times other side of a wall too far for noise someone pops out of base and insta is honed in on me. Ditto for prone behind a truck guy kills 2 squadies, I'm waiting for him and he comes out from around a building and insta swings from around the car basically looking backwards which is someone unlikely to dome me right away.

Mostly yeah, I think potential, like I like that movement though too many shallow rock hills are unpassable. Bush wookies a bit of a problem, trying to mark and range and use the mortar is rough, explosive fidelity is awful. I think potential but i'd still call this late alpha and needs a lot of ui/other polish. In a lot of environments trying to read heading bar even is rough. I cant seem to even just mark the map for myself and have any real heads up display to see it to try and use as a mortar heading barring a ton of trial and error watching rounds land which takes many seconds before it goes top down to have any idea at all where you are at.

Another bug, die show almost dead cant give up. Go to menu and back and back to being able to call for help or give up. Just lil shit.

In a nutshell, I want closer to bf2 than arma, just keep the movement, but make everything more polished, fuck 3 second board/exit and having to scroll menu's when I want to try to revive vs drag etc. I love vehicles but I'm ok with them not being as super prevalent but I think they should be closer to solo friendly.

CIWS seem like the hard counter to the apache, but they are learning it's easier to destroy the FOB structure with rockets than deal with the AA directly. Players will have to learn to build structures with more cover

Yeah, watching Shroud's apache play and it's like as soon as they get it they rule the land. Then CIWS come up and they're contested/defeated. So then they bring out a tank to destroy the CIWS/FoB's. Then they can go back to the Apache until the anti-air is established elsewhere. It's possibly a good counter system that doesn't let you just one-trick, but I can see really smart builders/designers making some absolutely fucking nuts battle bases that can't be contested.
