honestly why is there not a warhammer battlefront already. rather locked in this eternal war then leveling up weapons on bf6...
Why is there not a Warhammer 40k game in a division 2 style engine? People don't like money I guess.

Games Workshop going full faggot really killed my enthusiasm for 40K so I didn't even buy this during the pretty good discounts over thanksgiving/christmas but now it's on Gamepass so couldn't really resist that.

Still fairly early on and while the general look and feel of it is very 40k, good god most of the dialogue so far really makes me cringe. I guess Saber was sort of handicapped by having to work with the INCREDIBLY stupid ending of the first game but the pettiness and insubordination of the sergeant whose command Titus took feels really out of place for a space marine in general, let alone an Ultramarine.

And yes the identity of the Chaplain was already spoiled for me which makes it all even worse.

I admitted that the overall look and the feel of the gameplay is fantastic, which is all that matters for yall multiplayer plebes. The sergeant being openly insubordinate to Titus after the first mission and Titus just being like 'whatever bro' is bad writing. It's not Shadow of War bad but it's absolute at odds with Space Marines in general and Ultramarines in particular, which is odd because they clearly did a fair amount of research into the setting or had a fairly serious fan as the main writer because black shields are a somewhat obscure bit of 40K lore but was very fitting for the way they took the story.

Incidentally plebe, what's the best all around class for multiplayer? Is Saber still laughably incompetent at game balance?

Vanguard and Bulwark are S Tier. Assault is C Tier...rest are in between. Start Vanguard.

after you get one class to 25.

follow suit with the rest to 25, first flame thrower and melta for tactical, vanguard, heavy. then las fusil for sniper. lastly learn melee for axe bulwark and hammer assualt

make sure to choose fencing for all weapon types.

pick one fav class to grind prestige. enjoy the journey. its the emperor's will.

I started playing this a couple months ago. Got most the first 4 classes to a few prestiges. Farming hard siges but the grind is real. Not sure why they need such a grind in such a casual game. And then there's a completely separate grind for multiplayer.

I wasn't entirely kidding when I said I'd already played this back when they called it World War Z. The level design and a lot of the gameplay elements feel straight out of WWZ, although WWZ was almost entirely ranged + explosives whereas SM2 seems to be more evenly split between ranged and melee. I guess there's a lot of parallels between zombies and Tyrannids though.

Fencing isn't all bad, especially for newer people. Yes blocking does way more damage but fencing is better, and easier for gun strikes

Now balance sucks ass.

Correct. But you get very few effective gun strikes in the hardest content (which I assume is peoples goal). Matter of fact I'm going to say it's a detriment because the chip damage during that gun strike almost always is a negative for your shielding once complete. BUT it can save your ass once in a blue moon.

I have the opposite view. Fencing is never worth using. Balance lets you parry and does more damage. Fencing just gives you a longer perfect parry window, which is useless once you are good enough. Fencing for learning I understand though.

honestly not sure if I like the whole 'managing a temporary health stat' mechanic in such a melee-focused game compared to the 'generally just dont get hit' balancing of Vermintide. Like yeah Vermintide has temp health but it's generally more of a bit of extra survival rather than a primary focus (iirc Kruber can be built to generate absurd amounts of temp health but thats unique to him).

Maybe I'm just grousing because I never really recovered from my genre burnout, or maybe it's frustration because I can't decide whether I prefer M&K or controller. For melee games, especially games with parry windows, I prefer controllers, but for shooting I prefer M&K. Even in a melee focused class like bulwark I still find myself using my sidearm often enough that the controller annoys the shit out of me when I'm doing so.

imo if u pug alot and is an ok player fencing is just easier to get that final xp on higher difficulties because sometimes a p4 group mate still suck and you suddenly have too many mobs on yr back. the fencing heoric heavy galting gun for example makes it so much easier for casual to score strategems if needed
