There's no resting, but doctors patch you up for free. There is one in the ranger citadel for instance (to which you gain access btw after you finish either AG Center OR Highpool, you don't have to finish the whole radio tower story). Skillpoints are tight, I wouldn't waste them on a second combat skill. If you have a brawler in your team have him take care of anyone who charges you.

You can max out skills regardless of your attributes, strength by the way is not really important for melee characters, the whole stat system in general is poorly thought out and balanced. And as for the fight against jackhammer, the beginning is the toughest phase in the game. I almost run out of bullets (and cash) when I tried to finish up AG Center after Highpool but once you clear these two and maybe the Rail Nomads areas you should have plenty of ammo (and better weapons) and it becomes a lot easier.

However, there's a great deal of min/maxing going on so if you're characters are setup badly, you might struggle later on aswell.

I took 3 pre-made dudes (sniper, medic, and computer tech) then made my own dude (assault rifle). So far only the sniper seems useless-- misses all the time and not enough ammo, so I pumped a few points into SMG as backup. After beating the jackhammer bitch, should I immediately run to Highpool without investigating AG? Is there a timer before Highpool gets overrun?

Ya lets spoiler any major plot changes or stories.

Especially
anything to do with California ...I had no idea but it's all good though. I kinda figured it out by reading the lore and listening to radio but if you can clean it up with spoiler tags for future rangers that would be great. Praise Titans Glow!

And yes the bull pup with its AP 5 and easy 5.5Mm ammo is amazing . That 7mm shit is very rare.

Funny thing is I just bought Divinity so I'm having a RPG orgasm.

Divinity worth looking into if I like the wasteland style?

I don't know, I did enjoy Divinity but at least so far it can't hold a candle to Wasteland. Divinity just had that "euro" feel to it which usually translates to "rough around the edges" and "artificially hard". The puzzles in Divinity were mostly lame imho, made artificially hard by a busy environment riddled with camouflaged buttons/levers. Also, I hate randomized loot, and the inventory system/management was lame. Don't get me wrong, it was a fun game well worth playing, but by the end the sentiment was more "ok, I want to finish this" rather than some exciting climax I wanted to soak in and enjoy.

Well if you hate randomized loot then you're going to hate Wasteland 2. And it's almost definitely rougher around the edges than Divinity. Plus it looks like garbage.

By randomized, I mean "randomly generated item stats", not random placement. It's like when you end up with shit like a 2H staff with + dexterity. Ranndomization that creates useless items sucks imho. As for "rough around the edges"-- so far I find the Wasteland UI to be one of the best/intuitive in years. Again, I've only got 4 hrs played under my belt, so there's a lot more to evaluate, buts so far it feels less rough to me.

I enjoed Divinity just as much as this , even with all its shortcomings for both games. They are great games and glad they were made , the pros out weigh the cons for both games and im fine with that. Also for people that dont play these games much , you just need to move away from melee before you shoot them , there is even a colored grid that lets you know how far you can move so you still have enough AP to preform an attack.

Yeah, I did enjoy Divinity a lot, just as I did the recent M&M. Overall, I'm overjoyed that they're remaking the games that defined my childhood, so don't take these criticisms harshly. Divinity was very enjoyable, it just didn't have that "magic" that sucked me in to the point where I was up at 3am on a work night.

I think we're all getting to the age where nothing really keeps us up that late except maybe ass and tits... maybe...

Wasteland 2 got me close though.

Hah, even T&A doesn't do that for me anymore, unless it's new and very hot T&A. Yeah though, I've accepted the fact that there's not going to be the current day equivalent of being 16 years old and biking after school like a maniac to pick up a copy of Wizardry, memorizing every line of the printed/bound manual with loving care. I think the last game that sucked me in to a worship level of interest was Planescape Torment.

Beat Divinty, felt and played like a more polished/expensive game, playing through Wasteland is more of a nostalgia feel. Different feels, both good.

well you're fucked then because we are just are at Round 2 of the RPG releases. Obsidian's Pillers of Eternity has a huge article in Game Informer and PC gamer this month. That game is going to rock then of course you have Torment: Tides of Numenara soon too.

Oh yes, I'm a kickstarter backer for both and if the new Torment is anything like the old, I can die happy. I think of Dak'kon's story and how his sword evolved and it's almost like mental porn to me.

I'm liking Wasteland 2. Haven't had enough to time to get very far, but it's another victory for the Kickstarter games. Tex Murphy was another great sequel made possible by Kickstarter. Haven't been screwed yet. /knock on wood Really hoping we get a real Star Control sequel down the road as well.

+1 for being Johnny on the spot.
