In the Watchmen comic book, the climax hinges on a fabricated alien squid—an enormous, genetically-engineered psychic creature teleported into New York City, instantly killing millions and creating the illusion of an external, otherworldly threat. This deception unites global superpowers against a common enemy, thereby averting nuclear war. In contrast, the Watchmen film adaptation replaces the squid with a simulated energy attack attributed to Dr. Manhattan, framing him as the existential threat to humanity. While both versions aim to produce a unifying catastrophe, the comic's approach leans into absurdist sci-fi and critiques media manipulation and Cold War paranoia, whereas the film's version focuses more narrowly on internal character dynamics and the mythologizing of power. The core thematic outcome—peace through mass deception—remains intact, but the narrative mechanics and implications differ significantly in tone and scope.

I just knew it wasn't something you drafted up and it read as stilted and a try hard version of lithose.
It's definitely not something I drafted up because I suck at writing. But next time I’ll try to make it less obviously AI generated since some people are clearly triggered by it.

If we wanted an AI's take on something we would google it ourselves. The point is getting your actual opinion in your own words so we can debate a topic instead of a search engine.

But this requires not being an NPC and actually having to use your brain to formulate coherent sentences into an opinion. Brain rot is real.

He actually defended doing it too.

This is a vision of the very near future. Where everybody just fakes everything with AI generated slop.

And then they sincerely try to defend it, saying "yeah but I suck at writing so its ok"

Within the next 2 to 3 years there will be wearable glasses with AI built in, a conversational prompter. When people speak to you, it will put suggested responses up on your glasses so you can read them in response. A portable AI powered teleprompter. It will be wildly popular, like twitter level popular. Before long every ""human"" conversation even in meatspace will actually be a conversation between two AIs, with humans just serving as meat puppets.

And in those days they'll say the same thing, "yeah but I suck at conversation so this is ok"

This reads like AI.
