That bucket is going to be my retirement fund. You'll see me unloading on antiques roadshow in 40 years.

Only question right now is, if Weapons is as overhyped as Longlegs.

Longlegs had similar buzz and reviews.

I'd want to know how Weapons stacks up against the hype, and more specifically pertaining to the Longlegs hype.

That'd be a good gauge of how overhyped Weapons might be so I can manage expectations.

How does Weapons stack up against Longlegs? For those who have seen both movies.

Longlegs was fairly decent. Has definitely not one of the brightest movies I've ever seen but I enjoyed it.

The goofy Jai Courtney shark movie though was fucking awesome. I finished it a little bit ago and it was spectacular.

Dangerous Animals? That's on Shudder/AMC+ and I'll probably watch it this week.

That's the one. I finished it this evening because last night my wife confiscated my wenis, and then I went to sleep. Daiquiris make wonderful things happen.

It's not a perfect movie but it was fun and Jai is pretty excellent even if it's not a fleshed out character.

I liked Longlegs, but Weapons was superior. I like how it told the story from various perspectives advancing it bit by bit, filling in gaps, etc. It was very engaging. It is also likely more accessible to the general public. I liked Longlegs, but it went too weird. Outside of ~5 - 10 minutes of horror adjacent material (jump scares, forks, etc.) in Weapons I think it is a perfectly good movie even my wife would like.

For the record I also liked Longlegs a lot but this was better I think. They are very different films though.

How ever Barbarian was amazing as well. I'm all in on this director until he fucks up.

i'm curious how rewatchable this movie is seen, for me its a one and done and I really don't have any interest in watching it ever again but I only really like to rewatch scifi/action, rarely horror. it does feel like the movie has one or two "gimmicks" that once you know it, its sorta interesting to rewatch with the gimmick in mind but not sure there is really enough story to keep the interest.

like the demi moore movie The Substance, I enjoyed watching it once but no interest in ever rewatching it again. this movie is nowhere near as weird/gross/bizarre as that though

I feel like everything about this movie was great, but they missed the landing on the antagonist. Ruined it for me.
