eh. I'm probably on enough ignore lists to make it better to not start vidya game threads.

Anywaaaay time to engage the nitpick engine

Rogue Trader is set in the Koronus Expanse, mirroring the source material. Makes me wonder if we'll get a third game set in the Jericho Reach based on Deathwatch.

I know most will disagree with me but I liked RT more than their Pathfinder stuff. Pathfinder stuff just got too convoluted with all the classes, muticlassing, and I hated the buffing shit in that game. Plus Im tired of the whole high fantasy shit. And while there was difficulty problems with warhammer, it was just a more enjoyable game IMO and I loved the setting.

Yeah, I'm certainly on the other side of the coin there. Decades of familiarity with DnD made Pathfinder easy to get into, while on the other hand having zero familiarity with 40k RPG rules took ALL the fun out of building a character in Rogue Trader. I didn't even finish the last chapter in Rogue Trader and have no real itch to play it again. On the other hand, I have finished both Pathfinder games numerous times and sunk 500+ hours into them.

I purchased both Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous during the Kickstarters, with Rogue Trader being a day one buy; I doubt I will be buying this before it goes on sale.

Me not being into any PnP shit like ever, I found I had to look up builds in both games. But RT just played better, no stupid buffing and rebuffing your party all the time, skills were straight forward and more intuitive than PF games. RT had a cover system as well which I find to give you more options during fights. It wasnt an xcom2 cover system with as much impact, but nevertheless it was there. I enjoyed them both, but I enjoyed RT a lot more. Plus I find the whole 40K universe way more intriguing than just another fantasy one we've all played time and time again since gaming began.

This seems to be your biggest complaint but even without the couple mods that took care of this for you, within the game itself there was extend spell and enduring/greater enduring spell. 24 hours buffs mean you can rest multiple times before needing to refresh them and with a couple caster level boosts you can even use greater enduring on spells with 1 round per level durations, so 24 hours of haste.

I've never done a single PnP game either, I mean just with PC games; mainly playing Baldur's Gate 1/2 numerous times over the years.

For the Pathfinder games, I used mods to autobuff my group, which made the high buff builds much more manageable. There are plenty of mods the customize the rough edges of the Pathfinder games. I think I only played 1 playthrough of Kingmaker (the first) mod free.

My only experience with 40k is from games and I liked quite a few of them, but they were all strategy games. I'm a sucker for fantasy done well and didn't dig the grimdark no-goody two shoes 40k nearly as much.

I found Rogue Traders skills, stats, and everything to be really confusing compared to Pathfinder. I had Pathfinder background though. It turned me off to the game even though I love the setting.

I don't know if there is something I misunderstood about builds in RT but I needed to read 10 skills/talents to find one even worth considering. I ended up doing what I do in all these types of games which is to ignore everything that does not have an immediate effect and make sure I can kill or disrupt everything on turn one before they get to act.

In Pathfinder the buffing combined with filler encounters was incredibly tedious. But the systems were way better in pathfinder than RT. If they can get the quality of builds pathfinder has with deliberate encounters like in divinity that would be great.

so literally every build in the game? lol
I haven't replayed Kingmaker since before Wrath came out, so I was thinking there were less buffs in that game, at least if you didn't specifically build your party for it with something like Brown-Fur. Which made me think that I didn't use a auto-buff mod for at least half of my Kingmaker playthroughs.

Even in Wrath, Angel/Cleric seemed like it had way more buffs than any of the others. Also, after the first Wrath playthrough, I used mods to give the buff extension perks for free.

I found RT to be pretty boring. I wasn't a fan of their combat engine at all. I think made it about 15-20 hours in before giving up.

so you're a cheater who played with 12 mythic levels instead of 10.
Yep, I don't have some need to impress imaginary people because no one cares how you played a game or your "achievements," so I play single player games the way I want them played. Especially on replay when it's a quality of life improvement.

I also cheated the army bullshit in Wrath and the city building in both games on almost every replay, because fuck that noise too. It was alright for one playthrough but pure tedium to do it every time.

Owlcat has had enough success over the last 5 years that they're no longer just a development studio; they're also a publisher with half a dozen irons in the fire. Last I read, they had 1 or 2 "smaller" projects in the works and 2 standard full-size games being developed in-house. I don't have a clue what other projects they're involved in, but there are reportedly several.

I'm not a big Warhammer guy, but I hope they continue making games following their typical model. Iso-rpgs are the only type of game that really capture me and I look forward to playing from start to finish.
