Battlefield 5 only had 3 campaign scenarios (plus the intro) when I played it back at launch. As the guy who plays campaigns in these things, I heard they later added another one, The Last Tiger, where you play as a German tank crew at the end of WW2. So of course I had to go check that out. Not sure what prompted them to make a new scenario way after the main game and not have it be paid DLC, but that's pretty cool.

Was thinking of doing another Rogue Trader run when I saw this;

Now, I, personally, would have preferred a Rogue Trader 2 as I really enjoyed the format however I am cautiously optimistic. If I do do another Rogue Trader play-through I plan on actually reading the dialogue and actually giving a shit about the story. That is extremely rare for me to give a shit about a video game story.

I want to make a what are you playing announcement. (This is my doing)

Sludig Sludig and I are role playing two liberal lesbians one of which (My Character, Mio) is an insufferable anti cum dumpster in Split Fiction.

Which so far is a pretty damn fun. Sludig Sludig only went along with it if he got the more attractive red head who also is just a more free-spirited innocent watching flying cotton in the wind liberal compared to my character, who is an Antifa ridden cunt sack.

Every time she opens her Yap Sludig Sludig beats the shit out of me with whatever weapon he has. It's glorious.

And therapeutic at the same time.

Recently played Dusk and Wrath aeon of ruin, but felt it just didn't live up to the old school shooters. So been going back to Quake and Duke nukem 3d to get back that old feel. These modern "boomer shooters" like Dusk or are just a bit too fast paced and a bit to quirky with weird attempts to make some kind of "power moves" etc that the old games just didn't have.

Finally finished Yoshi & the Mysterious Book.

As I said in my early impressions, it's a very cute and whimsical game and it didn't look very deep in the early previews and announcement videos. However, it took me over 50 hours to 100% it, there's a LOT of levels (you have six worlds with six levels each at first, but you eventually unlock four more worlds and then there's 2 more worlds of special challenges).

The story is very basic. Bowser Jr and Kamek are looking for a legendary creature and accidently get sucked into a huge book, the book ends up on Yoshi Island and the Yoshis agree to help the talking sentient book sort out its contents. Along the way, you discover creatures depicted in the pages and have to enter each creature's habitat to discover more and more things about them, changing the contents of the pages as you go along to discover more creatures and more environments. You'll run regularly into Bowser Jr and Kamek and sometimes you'll have to fight them and sometimes help them out of trouble they got into. There's actually more lore behind the book itself, what it is for, who made it, etc.. but you unlock this lore only in the last world as you complete challenges.

Most of the levels are quite fun and there's definitely a lot of creativity and ingenuity in the various things to discover on the creatures you encounter, how they interact with their environment, each other, or other creatures. You often have to go back to previous levels to unlock even more discoveries once you've learned new things.

Some of the levels can be quite challenging and some of the challenges in the last world are quite difficult but nothing impossible. There's no crazy rewards for doing all the stuff 100% except some stickers in your book.

My only gripe would be that there's a few levels that have music-based mechanics and it was often not obvious for me (I don't know much about music) what I had to do to produce some tunes, etc.. so there was a bit of blind attempts and I had to look for some solutions online in some cases.

If you or your kids like Yoshi games usually and want something relaxing and fun, this is a pretty good choice.

I also recently played Shinobi : Art of Vengeance. It's available on PS4/PS5, Xbox, Switch 1/2 and PC.

It was made by the same team that did the excellent Streets of Rage 4, with beautiful drawn graphics, smooth animations and responsive gameplay.

I enjoyed Streets of Rage 4 but Shinobi Art of Vengeance is leaps and bounds above, it's not a beat them all and I was actually surprised when I played it as I realized it's a Metroidvania, and a pretty good one at that.

There's variety in the levels, the boss fights are cool, challenging but doable with practice. You can explore the levels to find upgrades to your health, weapons and techniques / spells which also helps with bosses. The version I played had a DLC included that lets you play three special levels from other Genesis / Megadrive era games (Golden Axe, Sonic and another villain I didn't know, Mad Dog of Shimano), it's pretty funny to beat a Dr. Robotnik fight with Shinobi.

The story's pretty good, the voice acting is great, and the gameplay is very fast and satisfying, beautiful art style, I really recommend it if you enjoy Metroidvanias.

I finished it 100% (you unlock a special boss when you find all the keys hidden in some levels), it took me around 25 hours.

I wrapped up D4 season. Now back playing Spiderman 2 (don’t at me - I got a phys copy for free). Up after that is the new Lego Batman game. Been dicking around off and on as my 5 year old plays through it.

Then - Final Fantasy X and maybe either Final Fantasy XII or Stellar Blade. It remains impressive how large my fucking backlog is.

Was playing Death Stranding 2. I guess I've lost my touch, the 1st one was super easy. This time every time I got near the undead things I got my ass handed to me, finally had to turn the difficulty down to story. Then last night I'm supposed to take some heavy fucking part over / around a mountain in the rain/snow. I slid and next thing I know I'm dead.
Immediate uninstall. I don't play games to be aggravated. Fuck that noise life is too short. Now I have to find something to play. I was going to do a heavy modded Skyrim playthrough called New Dawn but the modlist has been taken down.

I was beyond disappointed with Starfield. I figured at least the sense of exploration would be fun but it was non-stop generic shit. Played it on Gamepass before they got stupid with the cost and don't think I played 20 hours. I would pick it up for $20 and/or free on Epic when it gets old enough.

It's in a hell of a lot better state right now, and I mention it because you were talking about Skyrim and to me it's a lot more fun than that game ever was. There are a lot of pretty great mods and then some of the official stuff that's come out recently, along with the expansion, there's just a ton of stuff.

I just enjoy it because it's a relaxing and low-key game, and you were bitching about a game being a pain in the ass, and at least for me this game has never been that way. Figured it might fit the bill.

I mean you played that Morrowind style game and really enjoyed it recently, you would probably enjoy this, and I'm assuming the summer sales coming up pretty soon so you can probably get it pretty damn cheap along with all of the expansion shit.

Crimson desert continues to get crazy amounts of content added. I'm like 1/4 of the way through the main campaign but already beat almost all the big world bosses, maxed all my gear, very little room left to improve the character barring a few small pieces of gear that would give me something unique. All the crazy food's, 30k in the bank, etc etc done... but I'm still technically chapter 5 of like 12 or so. 211 hours...

Both of these are on my radar. Shinobi game is really cheap right now too, or was the last time I looked. How long are these if only running the main game? Not in the mood for 100%ing anything but I'd like a Yoshi update and a Metroidvania for a little while.

Currently running Metroid Dread for the second time ever. Almost tapped on it during one of the EMMI sections. It's actually more annoying than I remember. Was hoping I'd like it more this time. Probably more than halfway through it.

If you're just rushing through the levels, I'd say Yoshi is probably 10 hours tops (maybe a lot less because I'm not sure if you unlock worlds 11 and 12 without having completed a lot of the earlier worlds). You do need a certain number of stars to unlock new worlds, and stars are earned from discoveries in each habitat, so it takes some time still.

For Shinobi, probably around 5-6 hours if you just rush, again. But the game was such a joy to play, it's not a grind at all to find the items you missed, you can see them on your map, you can go to each level easily to redo it, you can leave any time.. it's really quite painless, and it unlocks special content.
