I would be okay. I played EQ a lot back in the day and a few times later on. I logged in a year or two ago and with the changes and new stuff I really didn't even know where to start and did not feel like starting a new character.

I have not kept up with the game and especially on who owns it and devs and such. Nowdays it's either a game I enjoy playing or it's not. I play Eve onlnie from time to time and their dev time is hell bent on coming up with a new game they can claim as "their own" instead of investing in Eve which is now for sale. A lot of people get into that end of it with the devs, comes down to if I like the game or not. I play it and the day it changes to the point I don't like I will be done.

You looked the other way, said nothing, you didn't raise your voice, you went along to get along, all because you needed your yearly new expansion fix. There is a direct correlation between the value of the EQ franchise and the slavish devotion of devotees. This is fanboyism and brand loyalty bias effect. It ends up stifling innovation, which is exactly the problem with the EQ IP.

When the EQ franchise dies a premature death, as it most certainly will, dare to look in the mirror to see who is responsible.

There's absolutely no shortage of dedicated people who told them otherwise for free, constantly... to no avail

Tell Blackrock or whatever Shadow Overlord company to release some funds to actually launch a couple classic EQ servers, that are true to form

There's gotta be some Velious server in ready to go condition with the old code there to use as a starting point.... right? (This is strongly rhetorical)

Maybe English is your second language, and you have reading comprehension issues. Most likely, you're too stupid to think of the big picture or too dishonest to care.

I wouldn't shed any tears for DPG after the bullshit they've done as of late.

I'd also personally be much better off if EQ didn't exist. I've put literal years of my life into it at great personal expense. Even now I'd like to be working on it but just don't have the time or energy for it.

Removing it as a constant lure for me to go back would be doing me a favor. I've been hoping to get banned for years, but I'm just not enough of a criminal.

The emu community seems like a great place if you want to stop playing around planes of power or before.

Fantastic expansions like gates of discord and secrets of faydwer? Mostly untouched I believe.

I think a far healthier outcome would be if all the people absolutely stuck on only playing to pop and never past it just stopped dragging their weight and shoving their opinions into live eq and just did emulators, and live eq could stop trying to coddle these people with overlong stays in pop and before and move to better ideas that utilize the good parts of eq.

The people who just want it die because of anger reasons are cunts, fuck em.
