Isn't it backed by teh am'zon? I put in a deposit a while ago... I seem to recall a lot of questions that are kind of like "so how much /would you/ pay for this..."

If it gets released, it will in no way be the price they set out for, or really...even close

Somewhat in their defense pretty sure the EV rebates were going strong, and prices overall have increased. I hope they’re close and it’s a decent vehicle, legacy OEMs need more pressure to get their shit together

The M440i plus:

Needed some relaxation so enjoyed car last weekend.

The way it climbs to 250km/hour on the autobahn remains impressive. My gf wanted to learn how to do a donut, I learned her this and also how to drift out of it, which was about 2 hours of car abuse.

Drove it to a meeting on monday, long drive with lots of highway, consumption 6.8l/100 km.

Its an amazing all rounder. Maintenance has been relatively cheap at the dealer, with 400$ for a small maintenance, which isn't that much more then dealers from other brands (VW, Dacia, ..) charge here for the same maintenance.

The M440i minus:

The spoiler has released a bit on both sides of the trunk. While I'm sure they'll fix that for free, it shouldn't be happening.

Tips:

If you buy one of these with the black piano gloss exterior trim, look for spots on that trim. It is very, very sensitive and costs 1k + to replace, along with the spoiler issue.

In Belgium these cars have stopped depreciating, retaining better value then the I4 (EV) counterparts. It seems like a good time to buy.

It'll be $40k bare bones, I bet. If it even makes it to market. People pricing cars before they have a factory built and infrastructure of all kinds are in for a big surprise.

One of my cars is in for routine oil change. Got a loaner: 2026 Audi Q5. One of the top 3 worst vehicles and driving experiences I’ve ever had. Never buy this piece of shit.

I watch the Doug demuro/cars and bids podcast or whatever it’s called, because I’m a noob? Good enough balance of entertainment and car news/info that I wouldn’t normally come across in my other perusing of the interwebs. Aaaaanyway, Doug was shitting on the Q5 the last few weeks. Worst car ever apparently.

How come ? I briefly considered an Sq5 a couple of years back, but chickened out after reading some user maintenance issues, mostly with Audi in general.

Nice car man, really.

Can you remote start it with the keyfob? Normally my car has that function, but its disabled since not legal in Europe. Fucking sucks, and modding it to work requires more then just coding.

Not available on the manual transmission, but you can auto/remote start the automatic transmission.

I'm coming to learn that Europe has a lot of very fucking annoying features in cars that are forced upon you by the EU. Some of them trickle down into the US, but some are at least software based and can be disabled on the US cars. The most annoying feature being the auto start/stop always being on. Fortunately both M2s I had let you turn it off and it stays off indefinitely.

Mine is limited to 10 minutes run time but you can restart it again with the fob . Not sure how many times you can do that. Handy when your office is just feet from my truck and I can start it to let it start cooling down when it's near 100F outside.

Someone on stream mentioned they lived in Fairbanks, AK and their new place they were renting did not have a plug in to keep the engine block warm so the first night they were going to put bedding over the hood and remote start it. Said it was a GM and were limited to a short run time then you had to go out and start with a key before doing it again. Guy said it was -40f, -40c same thing that day. When I was in Ak instead of parking meters they had things to plug your vehicle in while you were shopping or whatever.

wouldn't you want the guard to extent out and have at least a little overlap of the front tires? Also a finer grill of some kind? I could see an arm or something getting caught in there and then body/clothes/etc getting all wrapped up in the front there. Would be a bitch to clean out.

More reasons than should exist

- Looks incredibly dull. Its literally "anonymous mid-size SUV #1754203".
- Ride is bouncy and crashy, not smooth or comfortable.
- ALL of the interior controls and the infotainment interface are bad. They are hidden in the menus of the giant screen and its not intuitive. Using them isn't exactly safe.
- To access the controls for everything you have to wade through disclaimers and acknowledgments every time you start the car.
- The door handle has a HUGE built in control panel for the seats, mirrors, and locks. Its nearly 4 inches in width/depth, for a door handle. It makes no sense and its inconvenient.
- Those controls I just mentioned? All smooth haptic shit that doesn't work every time you touch it and they are literally all over; doors, steering wheel, center console.
- Shitty 4-banger engine and lazy transmission but it requires 91/93 octane and is still anemic, never wants to downshift, feels like slop.

Its unpleasant to look at, drives mediocre, sucks to interface with and use, and its not remotely cheap or affordable for most people.

I got back in my wagon and was immeasurably happier and calmer.
