They have definitely taken a massive dive in the last 2 decades. There are still holdouts, but slim pickings.

Subaru brought nothing to the table. Their most recent WRX had the same 270 HP that the 2009 model had. And, they continued to get uglier and uglier with the plastic cladding and shit body lines.
the better looking wrx, the legacy which was basically a wrx for old ppl, looked classy and of course subbie stopped production last year. i was seriously thinking about a legacy a few years when the neighbor kid got a used one and me and his dad (the old 72yr old) fixed it up, until the kid blew a piston

I want someone to make my Mach-E look like a 1969 mustang... I remeber when someone made a 2005 look like one with a modern twist, it was not a "reshell" ... but google fu fails me.. I swear I saw somewhere when the mache first came out that someone was making retro-look body mods for it, but cannot find anything... may be a delusion thought reality in my mind haha
Not gonna lie, looking like a Gen one Mustang would be badass. The lack of sound would be eerie though.

Love the color, really good shade. Very nice.
Thanks. It did take a while to find a fun color on a car that wasn't beat to hell with 7 owners. This one is sometimes red and sometimes orange, depending on the light.

Sort of a relief to be done too. Like looking for a house, its a stressful process and when its over I don't want to think about it anymore. Only thing left to do is pick a license plate.

I'm with you there, I used to switch cars a LOT and would have 2-3 at a time as well because they would overlap. I've had my current vehicle 7 years in June, and not looking to do anything with it anytime soon. Had my house over 15 years. The stability is very nice.

Shit, that must be nice. I'm done being a serial shopper/owner. With the way things are going, I think I will need a lot more in savings and investments the next 16 years.

Of the crew that I used to run around with, all are done with cars except one. Not so much as a base 911 to be found amongst the rest of us. Cars were fun when they were cheap. $100- $150k. A friend lost that on depreciation alone on a new 296, and that doesn't include the $90k he lost on making payments for his previous 296. $240k is a good chunk of the way to that 675 you bought. Unlike the 675, he can't drive and sell money he lost.

Of the cars I owned, broke even on one, made some on two, one was an insurance write off. 964 that I bought used back when no one wanted them. I died when I saw the pricing on them now.

I'd have a life-ending seizure if I had to eat $240k and have exactly nothing to show for it all said and done.

The 296 crashed hard. They made too many, the prices were too high out of the gate, and there is a lot of questioning the hybrid tech. You can get a new, delivery mile for 20-25% off from a franchise dealer. Shame because it’s a fantastic car.

Losing a quarter million on a car is disgusting.

I had a 182 on floats. Only boat I had was a little river boat. Sold it for what I paid for it. Both are a LOT more expensive now than not even that long ago. $100k for this with engine now

I can't imagine what shop time is these days for a good A&P mechanic.

Man don't recall these only getting 20mpg, I think I got a bit higher highway but still wouldn't be a great commuter but I miss my 08 I had a decade or so ago. Dsg and awd was pretty sweet year round.

Been flirting with a commuter that would make any sense. Hybrid Maverick or anything even making 40mpg doesn't make any sense after paying 20-30k. Been eyeballing some turbo velosters for like 6k. Not too too slow, make like 32. Hul decent bit of shit. I hate I'm electric curious for one less oil change.

60 miles a day on my truck or the jag.

Thought they were maintained nightmares, r32 is more about nostalgia zippy hot hatch era. Certainly kinda a crappy commuter next to a modern car for mileage.

Won’t be reliable or inexpensive to fix. New golf is less interesting than an R32, but more dependable. Mid 20s on the highway?

Ya iirc I got line 24, sad when the awd jag makes that
My daily does 20 on the highway. But, I would be unhappy in something economical and ordinary. I bet if you really thought about it, you would also be unhappy in something you don’t like or appreciate.

And besides, you will never ever make up the cost of another car in better fuel mileage.

I mean the 6k 33 mpg veloster might assuming something doesn't break between 100 and 150k miles and a couple years. Anything newish for over 20k certainly not. Wife would curse us with another juke but I refuse to be seen in one even if it actually does snow well.

Need to see how low to ground VW is, kinda getting tired of sitting down even in spacious jag trying to avoid frame and seat bolster.

Burren speaks 100% truth here, saving a couple $k on the car purchase buys a shit ton of gas.
