Yeah, it's pretty bleak and I don't see it getting better. The only silver lining is dealerships seem to be packed full of cars they can't sell.

EDIT: I found a mini, going to pick it up next week and then sell the 86.
Maybe I can get 25% off a 2500/3500 Denali.

Any plans for the Mini?

Most of the stuff I want to do to it are already done (Exhaust and upgraded pulley). I definitely want to put better wheels on it and maybe the JCW hood/bumper/skirts but unsure yet. Couldn't find a blue one but these are the wheels I'm going with.

Why is every car from every brand crap now? Everything is lower quality than the prior generations AND the prices have gone way up.

15 months into owning the wagon and the dash makes more noise than all my other cars combined. I hate driving it. Want a new daily? Tough shit, they’ll all suck too.
Cost cutting knows no bounds. Friend had a new Tahoe. Pile of shit in every respect. Cheap 80's style interior. Bad seats. Noisy ride in the back. Easily a $35k vehicle being sold for 2x that.

Toyota used to have pretty decent interior. Now meh. Ford F-150 is visibly cheap looking exterior, trash interior materials. KIA/Hyundai always been shit, new engines are less reliable than the old pieces of shit, which is astounding because the old units were some of the least reliable engines ever made. Saw a pic behind a KIA dealership. Dozens of replacement engines in crates stacked high and deep.

Semi-new trick they all use is to keep almost no spare parts, with parts going NLA after 5 years. They skirt lemon laws this way. Clock doesn't tick if there is a parts shortage. And they do anything possible to deny warranty work. One of Ford's tricks is to deny diesel warranty saying fuel is dirty. They put shit fuel pumps in them that explode and take out the engine and fuel system including the gas tank. $10k+ fix minimum.

Cosmic joke of VW getting rid of 100k jobs, complaining about China...then they open a new factory in China.

All these companies are headed by low-IQ sociopaths.

Short answer : Planned Obsolescence

Slightly longer answer : If you build a car that lasts 20 years, you sell a person a car every 20 years. If the car only lasts 4 years, you sell them FIVE cars in 20 years. 5x revenue make stonk market happy!
