They should have spec races of little cars like this, it'd be a little less technical than go-karts and a little more accessible.

I raced YSR50's for a few years and it's the same kind of deal, a 5 horsepower motorcycle that tops out at like 60mph, but the racing is so close you can literally chat on the way down the front straight. We'd race our lightweight superbike in the main endurance race with CMRA but have more fun in the YSR races.
A race series with these would absolutely be a riot. They seem very fast and grippy and well put together. Much easier to do it too; $20,000 with car, safety equipment, and spares versus 6 figure to 7 figure budgets for real cars.

Doesn't have to be, have you ever looked into Champcar (used to be known as Chump car) or Lemons racing? I did a bunch of Chump car races back in the day in a miata and (funny...) a Volvo, was fucking awesome time. Out there banging fenders in your 20+ year old piece of shit and nobody cares because those cars looked like demolition derby cars before you started.

I would do go karts if there weren't serious safety issues, but there are.

Yeah, I’ve seen the lemons before. I had assumed that was just a California series. Is it in Texas too? I haven’t looked into joining before. Does seem real fun though.

There are Texas events in both series upcoming.

I might need to schedule those and watch, then talk to folks.
I could imagine with the number of us in Texas pulling together team wouldn't be hard... And give an excuse to have a car named "The Rickshaw"

Now it even has me shopping...
I love Facebook Marketplace

“It's been in a little fender bender... "

Pictures show front bumper caved in to the radiator.

“Interior is super clean"

Seats are covered in stains, carpets match the color of the dirt the car had been sitting in.

Whoops, my thumb is in this photo. Oh well, leave it in.

The only thing it's missing is "firm. I know what I have"

We're talking about a racing series where the rule is the car can't cost over $500...

Although now I wonder how big a hit Cash for Clunkers did for this whole sport.

they’re going to COTA, lol. In those cars you’d have time for a nap on the back straight.
The most fun racing ever is generally in low powered, relatively equivalent vehicles. Spec Miata is a fucking RIOT. Google a few in-car videos of that if you haven't ever seen it, it's wild.

Completely agree. But, on size appropriate tracks. COTA is massive.
Miata’s would be great at Eagle’s canyon though. That’s decently close.

I accidentally bought a ford f350 superduty with an 8 foot box. Not gonna lie, driving it makes me feel powerful. Already have picked up sheets of drywall, picked up a house full of appliances, all so easy with the long box. I love it. I had the mileage. But it’s badass.

This man speaks gospel, watch one miata race. It's the most exciting shit you'll ever see. It's literally any driver's race. So much action. I got some colleagues cheering that don't even like racing.

They are also a blast to drive in teh sim.

Wash, Claybar and Wax today. Quick and dirty job early this morning, got it done before it got hot. I will do it again and polish this fall. A lot of nasty was in that paint. Looks freaking great, probably going to remove the front JCW badge. It's too busy. I hate having a plate as well but I'm tired of fighting the cops on it. They are really being pricks about it lately.

My texas homies. Been minute for me, but is cars and coffee still a thing?

Wanna start hitting them again.
Sure is.

Every Sunday at Catalina Coffee (Washington Ave, Houston) between 7 and 9. Earlier is better if you want parking. Small space, eclectic turnout. Only one we go to, but usually not in the summer because its so damn hot, so early.

Houston also has monthly car events at The Post downtown. But, its a huge concrete parking lot and you'll cook.

Woodlands has 2 per month, but I always forget which days. I think the town calendar has it? I haven't been to it in a year or so.

Dallas still has the biggest C&C in Texas, if I recall. But, I don't know the dates/address because I'm not up there on weekends.

Not sure about Austin or San Antonio, but I imagine they each have something?
