It's definitely FAR better than it used to be. I never expected a 'Vette to have a lambo/porsche interior, but their older designs literally were a transplant from their cheap shit economy models, while they needed to be at least in line with the Jap sport car interiors. This latest incarnation is much better-- it still reminds me of something "Pontiac-y" for some reason (mainly the dash controls), but it's now somewhat comparable to other things in its price range.

I love this car.

My wife almost stole it from me, so iboughther a Sante Fe to calm her down =p

Yeah that's almost exactly the one we have, same color and all. Ours is a bit bigger, I think. Great car except needing Premium gas. Very, very comfortable and quiet. I like it more than the Lexus LX and it's half the price.

I agree, the new Stingray Z06 is sex.
Those are two different cars, but yeah, the Z06 is a damn good looking car. I know a lot of people that hate what they did with the rear end though, especially the tail lights. Those people are idiots though. The plain ass circles have been the worst looking part of the last generation's exterior appearance.

In other news my ae86 got t-boned by some guy trying to go straight in an inside turn only lane, with me on the outside turn/go straight lane. 6 years of savings and building gone in the 4th outing in the car.
Owch, the feels. I can sympathize, if there was any item that I owned that I had an attachment to, it was my old Trans Am GTA. Then to have it taken from you by some twits mistake... and to top it all off with the pitiful insurance check...

How much are those? I was thinking about ordering one, but not sure I really needed the Z06.
I think you would be looking at $20,000+ over the Stingray. If you can, take a ride in both, the Zo6 is purportedly much less comfortable than the base due to the focus on making it a stock racing set up.

My apologies, even though I have drooled over the car I don't follow domestic car culture too much. I agree on the tail lights, they are one of the best new things about the Vette.

Yeah I almost threw up when I got out of the car after he hit me, I would have rather totaled it myself than some other jackass doing it for me.

That price is fucking insane, I get inflation and all that shit but car prices are getting fucking absurd. I pull 60k a year and can't afford a car over 20k.

If you make 60k a year 90k cars aren't aimed at you. Shocker.

About $86-92,000 reasonably equipped.
Did you test any of them out, or even a Stingray for that matter? I'm curious about the 7 speed manual's H-pattern. I feel like that would be pretty easy to miss shifts under spirited driving with the eight gate shifter, but I've never driven anything with more than six forward gears. Guess the new Corvette's automatic rev-match on downshifts certainly helps if you accidentally slap it in 3rd or 4th instead of 5th or 6th.

Chevy is going to sell thousands of them because it is priced so low, but this type of car is not what we all buy for utility it's a toy. They aren't really comparable, you compare Z06 to other high end cars not to a daily driver these are the cars people pay cash for. I would look at net worth not annual salary when considering buying a high end car, if you aren't a millionaire and spend 100k on a car then you are retarded. My daily driver is just a tundra truck.

Drisnsic -

I have not driven in a C7, I currently have a C6 so going into this somewhat blind. I have seen the z06 in person at the Carlisle corvette show a week or two ago. Definitely going with the manual, I wish it was staying a 6 speed but just going to trust the engineers here. This is the one car that I trust chevy to do right.

My Z has that and I had to shut it off. It's a very cool feature(especially if you're tracking the car or just driving like a maniac in general), but it's fucking annoying when you want to drop into neutral and it's revs your engine up as you pass it near another gear.

That's a shame. I wonder how much more/less sophisticated the corvette system is. I'd understand if you slightly press the shifter into a particular gate, but otherwise yeah, I could see that getting annoying.

As far as I can tell, the vette rev matcher dosent kick in until you start to let out the clutch once you have put it in a gear. I dont double clutch though, so if I am in neutral, the clutch is usually pressed, or I am playing with my stick at a stop light.

That seems odd, as when you release the clutch, it's usually a very quick motion. That said, the Nissan one holds it at the exact RPM as long as you're holding the clutch in and in that gear(ie: it will adjust the RPM if you move from gear to gear). Once you engage the clutch, it relinquishes control back to the gas pedal. It's pretty seamless when you're shifting. The annoying factor I mentioned earlier isn't a huge issue, but it gets annoying if you drop into neutral rolling to a stop, etc. If you wait until you're going like 10mph to put it into neutral, you'll probably never notice it.

I am not sure of the design involved in the computer system. It acts like the computer keeps the clutch from engaging for ~0.3 sec until the revs are matched. For example, if I am going 70 in 6th and want to engine brake down the off ram. I press the clutch, the car goes from ~2000 RPM to ~700 RPM (idle). I shift to 4th, but coast a little with the clutch pressed, it stays at ~700 RPM. I let off the clutch, then it pops up to 3-4000 RPM and starts to engine brake.

An error (mine) I can remember when doing some "spirited" driving, I slipped it out of 4th and pushed it against 3rd, without pressing the clutch, it dropped it to ~700 RPM and made the excruciating gear grind, but that is it.

New Z06 Starts at $79k with destination. Options can add up to over $110k. Choosing the Z07 package (aero changes, Carbon Brakes, and different suspension bushing/geometry) would make it tough to daily drive, but the non-Z07 packaged Z06 is perfectly fine for every day use.

No, you won't see them until well into 2015; dealers are JUST starting to get allocations now for upcoming orders. Yes, the rev-match can be shut off completely if you don't want it. Interior is a massive upgrade over prior generations. It's now about 90-95% of what you'd find in a similarly priced Jag F-Type or **insert German auto here**. Bang-for-the-buck of the new Z06 will be unbeatable for quite some time.

I put down a deposit at my dealer months ago to ensure a spot on the list (4th, currently) so I'm pretty excited. Laguna Blue, 2lZ, silver wheels, manual, hardtop.

The Z06s are going to be pretty awesome, but at around 100k, I would rather get a GT-R.

I think that's actually kind of a misconception about Porsches. At least 911's up to the 993 (1998). Their interiors were spartan as fuck. Not cheap, per se, but just completely bare bones.

Granted, that's a 15-20 year old car at this point, but I don't see it being any fancier than a similarly aged Corvette:

Although that Corvette interior is pretty horrifically fantastic plastic. In any case, after the 993's Porsche pretty much went from being a low production sport car company to a high production luxury car company, and their interiors changed accordingly.
