The "continuation" will be whatever happens after Last Titan. It will continue the world as we know it today. The "radical departure" will come from Classic+ where the Dark Portal never opens. THAT would invalidate every single expansion WoW ever put out and would be the very definition of a radical departure of the current story.
I’d be 100% in for that from classic+. Anxious to see what they show as they seem confident

The radical departure would be placing Jaina first and foremost and quietly retcon in a female “thrall” to take his place. Ain’t no way Blizz is backing away from their “the future is female” bullshit with who is there now. The rule of Gondor, indeed.

Classic+ could have good class design, if the devs don't have their heads up their ass completely they'll look at Turtle and Ascension and see things that worked and do them instead of listen to the howling faggots.

Camelot leaks said it's just vanilla talents with some reworks for "weak" talents. I don't know if that qualifies as "class design".

If the reworks are extensive, sure-- but it sounded underwhelming.

I'd hope to god the leaks are bullshit because that would mean stack Warriors and just win again.

But there are so many leaks it's not even funny

At the same time Turtle WoW succeeded without nerfing warrior into the ground. They did raise other classes up and did elegantly rework a lot of talents. That server did not suffer as much from metagaming and warrior stacking. Possibly as a side effect of them aggressively removing bots, RTM, boosting, and other stuff. Maybe there were a few guilds doing that but it did not come across to me that you had to be meta or get ignored. Turtle even banned the Chinese language addon so they couldn't talk natively in the game. Because Chinese farmers still existed in Turtle and you'd see them out there farming elementals and stuff.

Based on Blizz's history we have very little hope that they will ever aggressively police bots and RTM. I remain very cautiously optimistic that their big Classic Plus announcement is more than a lazy rework and slapping on some new zones, dungeons, and factions to base vanilla.

You really think after all the work they put into SoD to create warrior alternatives, including tank alternatives, they are just going to throw all that away? Interadesting

All of my speculation hinges on the box price aspect I guess. They will absolutely take stuff from SoD. So here is what I would expect from a $40-$70 dollar box price that has to be a step up from SoD, which had no entry free outside the monthly one.
  • No level cap gatekeeping like SoD did. You can go to 60 out the gate.
  • QoL enhancements from retail or something.
  • The main classic class issues worked out of them. Making all specs mostly viable.
    • This can include shaman tank, arcane mage, protection paladin, demonology warlock. More than Turtle WoWs light talent tweaks but less than SoD's chaos.
  • Not totally baseline vanilla with just a few quests and shit tacked on. Loads more quests, new quest hubs across the leveling journey.
    • Also more dungeons, 10 mans, whatever.
  • Profession rework.
  • Roadmap that this will have Classic Plus expansions.

Other stuff like Bronzebeard's discovered items and whatnot would be good additions as well.

If the offering is a box price with lazy additions to baseline vanilla and just hardcoding some of the later expansion spells into Vanilla to even out classes then it will come off to be as solely a cash grab rather than something we should look forward to. I have very little faith they will do anything to protect the game economy from bots, RMT, goldsellers and what have you.

SoD was a seasonal server. This will be the first time they really make something more permanent than retail for a long time. Even the Anniversary servers are one and done offerings.
  • No level cap gatekeeping like SoD did. You can go to 60 out the gate.
I think this is where a lot of people will either be really happy or really disappointed. The level gating from SoD was VERY popular. And it is an easy way for Blizzard to give themselves more time to get end-game content finished while giving a very large portion of the player base something they think they want.
  • QoL enhancements from retail or something.
This is almost guaranteed. The fact that in the past week they just put the Anniversary servers on the internal Blizzard Armory site says a lot.
  • The main classic class issues worked out of them. Making all specs mostly viable.
    • This can include shaman tank, arcane mage, protection paladin, demonology warlock. More than Turtle WoWs light talent tweaks but less than SoD's chaos.
I don't think it will be SoD levels of "everything is viable" but you aren't going to be warrior stacking either.
  • Not totally baseline vanilla with just a few quests and shit tacked on. Loads more quests, new quest hubs across the leveling journey.
    • Also more dungeons, 10 mans, whatever.
The recent leaks were all dungeons revamped and at least 1 new dungeon per "level range." What that last part means is still a guess.
  • Profession rework.
This is a must, agreed.
  • Roadmap that this will have Classic Plus expansions.
This is also guaranteed. If they are going to break away from the standard WoW storyline, they are going to have to carve a path in a different direction. But they will also charge for those expansions, just like Retail.
Other stuff like Bronzebeard's discovered items and whatnot would be good additions as well.

Blizzard has zero economic incentive to crack down too hard on bots/RMT. They do it as a PR boost every few months, but the subscription numbers/revenue is just too juicy to be draconian about them.

I am also not one of the purists that demands 2004 graphics. Bring Classic+ more in line with 2026 graphics, please.

QoL enhancements from retail or something.
Also, more on this point. There was a patch to the Anniversary/Hardcore servers that broke ALL the UI mods. They basically shoved the Retail UI code into the Classic client. This just further clears the way for more QoL enchancements for whatever they are sending out in Classic+

Obviously Alt-Classic will not be the continuation of the _World of_ Warcraft storyline. (Though I could see them eventually reusing prior expansions' landmasses, presumably with a new storyline.)

But when Blizz effectively has two MMOs, one of which is:
Recognizable Warcraft 3 Horde and Alliance races fighting over RTS Warcraft territory
and the other is:
Nature trolls, vulpera, robo-gnomes, etc., who have killed off the Scourge, the Burning Legion, the Old Gods, the Titans, and the Void Lords, and are now fighting against whatever nonsense Blizz pulls out of their posteriors for 14.0
I can see Blizz ('s marketing department, at least) making the argument that one is the true successor to the Warcrat (RTS) IP.

Retail will always be the main timeline. That is their cash cow. Hopefully classic+ will not be infected with trading post, shop items, and all the other modern Disney bullshit.

I mean to be fair...

It's Blizzard they fucking throw away how classes work every 2 years with a new expansion, this has happened since the first expansion.

But what I really hope for C+ is
All specs viable
Wrath levels of difficulty in raids requires you to do mechanics but isn't pay attention to 900 different bullshit things oh you missed a interrupt you wipe.
No mythic+
High Elves and Goblins
More class race combos, it doesn't need to make 100% sense mage, hunter, warrior, priest, and Rogue for all.
No world buffs in raids.
More leveling zones and dungeons, more quests world wide
Profession reworked
New professions
Gear that's interesting not just +crit+haste
If they add retail stats no fucking versatility. Literally the most fucking boring stat ever "Whats it do? EVERYTHING"
Flat out don't allow any mod like weak auras. I finished all of season 1 on heroic difficulty with only a dps meter and Blizzard utility if you need weak aura type shit gitgud.
Destroy bots (this will never happen)
Toggle for classic or modern models.
Male and female option

Still pants on head retarded for not offering the best class specs/playstyles across the timeline as an option.

Classic+, if they could keep the soul of the game alive from tbc and move forward without fucking it up would be the new cash cow. I doubt they have the skill or competence to pull off either.

ROFL Liquid just random god pulled the kill in Echo’s face again.
I just got home literally just as Echo killed it. What even happens in P3? Last pulls I saw both teams were still getting turbo-fucked at the P3 start and hardly seeing any mechanics.

Echo fucked themselves in the ass with the pool strat. Liquid copied it, tried it a few times, deemed it too high risk and proceeded to kill it normally. Then Echo killed it with no pool strat. Typical Echo.

Boss splits the platform into 4 smaller platforms to start P3. There are red circles that have to be grouped and soaked, and then after that soak the players get debuffs that spawn waves from them. Meanwhile, waves are spawning everywhere. There are also various adds, the most notable being eggs that have to be gripped together and cannot touch any green. Boss destroys each of the platforms one by one so the raid is left with one during an enrage burn.

Echo realized the green lava prevented the players from getting hit by waves so on the last platform the entire raid jumped off so they could just dps and heal through it. Blizzard announced they were going to hotfix it so Liquid didn’t do it and killed the boss the first time they tried to do the 4th platform the correct way. Echo then did the same the first time they tried the 4th platform correctly. Echo fucked themselves with their pool strat hilariously.
