SoD did not feel like the game I liked, nor did Ascencion. They both had great ideas (I loved the exp hot spot in Ascencion, that would be a great way to balance zone, and they could extend to ressources as well. Imagine the carnage if there is a thorium hot spot on a pvp server), but it did not feel like vanilla.

Like most guilds, we got bored waiting for P4 after Gnomer. (We were clearing Gnomer on the 2nd reset though. Well ahead of most guilds) I think a few of them took a run at Sunken Temple but 4 months was just too long to wait for the level cap to raise.
They needed more boats for the extra boat paths. Not having to run through Wetlands at level 10 to get to Darkshore is a godsend.
Yeah, the cadence of content and level release was tough, but ultimately worth it in the end. Fundamentally the question is, are your people competent, fun to BS with on Discord, and reliable to show up. Blows my mind such a large percentage of adults who play these old games aren't any of those things.
I feel good about clearing Gnomer before the first nerf bat hit the last boss encounter. As long as there are things to do, they show up and wipes don't bother us. In fact, they seem to drive us. Tackling hard content is what makes these games fun and pounding your head against a wall until you smash through it is a feeling you just can't get with any other type of game.
To be honest, I'm ok with it. Because I have a strange feeling we may see it again soon...
That would make sense because Alliance already had the greatest questing zones in the entire game: Elwyn, Westfall, Duskwood.
