They normalized all the fucking pets a long time ago. There used to be special rare pets with special abilities and such, but nope, cant have that.

Anyway for me in PvP its cat but for PVE its boar because of charge. It might do slightly less dam, but the charge ability makes up for it in speed of mob to mob grinding. All other pets are whatevs meh and more of a skin than anything.

Pretty sure they added the unique abilities back. Even in Tirisfal in the new area I saw a rare wolf that I had never seen before. Like a wolf model/skin I have never seen before. Almost a metallic silver sheen to the thing.

I think searching for rare hunter pets is totally a thing again.

The rare pets have always been there and they were always trainable, at least most of them. But they are only skins, no unique things about them. Like I said they normalized all that shit way back in classic. And Im doubting they gave those pets unique anything. Why? Because if there was one pet with the best ability/dps/whateverthefuck, everyone would just have that one pet, lol.

Yeah I had the wolf that did shadow dmg back in the day, and the one cat that had a 1 atk speed instead of the 1.5 or whatever all the other ones did. Got the fun sucked out of them ages ago.

Level 7 right now and thoroughly enjoying the game again. Haven't played since WotLK. Other than TWoW for like a week before it was shut down.

I hit 10 playing for a few hours last night after not playing since WotLK alpha. I hate everything and everyone I come across which may be related to my laziness and refusal to dick with any addons right away.

speaking of addons what is some of the must haves? Any questing ones? I like to keep my shit stock for the most part, but im sure there is some good must haves out there.

I also heard that they will not allow the addons from classic like deadly boss mods and all that jazz that plays the game for you this time.

Even if players refuse to use tons of addons, at least they should get Forever Move. Blizzard locking windows and having a weird fetish about how everything needs to be anchored to the upper left, is beyond me.
