Ended up switching to malfurion server after many issues and queues, dwarf shaman.
Been a bitch getting the game patched at sub 3mb/s if it even hits that. Probably start on Malfurion too just in hopes of a slightly smaller population.

It's been mostly rock solid. I like it so far, but.

What the fuck is the Mystic Enchant system. I mean it started off easy enough, but you need a Mystic Altar to change anything (switched to feral at 20), and there just....isn't one? And no clue where to get the feral enchants as the quests gave me ones I needed before.

There's a lot to it, and maybe I'm just tired :p

There are 4 permanent mystic Altars in the world, Kharazan, Azshara, Dalaran ruins, and Silithus.

This should clue you in that you don't need mystic altars until you are level cap. You truly do not, you can completely ignore mystic enchants and still level to 60 perfectly fine with all the strength and power of an original class. Respecing at low level and trying to optimize your enchants is the same as going to the Auction house and spending all of your gold to buy new gear for your new spec. You are level 20, all you are doing is wasting your resources on a truly trivial benefit that fades in a few levels. Like if you put a talent point in the wrong thing at lvl 15. who cares, it truly does not matter. deadmines is not so heavily tuned that a missing talent point is going to make or break your lvl 20 dungeon run. Don't worry about optimizing every little thing until level cap.

Now, players who bought bundles or hit level 60 (you get a free one in the mail) can summon temporary mystic altars and usually do so in cities so if you think you need it (Again, you don't) just hang out next to the bank/call board and there is sure to be an altar pop up in a few days (when those players are nearing level cap and actually start to give a shit about optimizing, again, there is no reason to do so before level cap). it's going to cost you runes of ascension (same as talent respecs, a currency you get from doing quests/exploring/killing/etc). Runes of ascension are the same currency you spend on heirlooms for your alts and upgrading world forged items if you find one you really like and want it to level up to raid gear equivalent (the most expensive thing runes can buy)

As far as where to find Mystic Enchants, that's kind of the point/fun of this server, go explore and find them.

If you just want a guide i'm sure there will be one up if there isn't already. we found most of them in alpha, some got moved pretty late but still a decent resource:
and for world forge locations:

I think something messed up on their restart. I was playing just fine this morning and then they shut down to fix phasing. Try to log back on and get sent to a WoTLK splash screen like its a normal Blizzard server and can no longer connect. Even launching from inside the file doesnt work now.

able to login just fine, make sure you have "live" selected on the launcher and you are logging in to bronzebeard (or Malfurion) on server select

Appreciate the write up. I absolutely wanted the feral runes, and it was worth my time to get the Tarren Mill flightpath, and res behind the Dalaran forge and ended up using it. I was just confused, because I didn't need one for the initial runes. Fun server, with a small 120 person queue just now.

Started a Dwarf Shaman but also want to play Priest so we'll see how it goes. Not doing any challenges though as if I am out exploring and doing random shit for these challenges and their new location stuff I am def going to die.

Will play around on horde too so see what they added on that side.

I'm a 28 druid on horde side. I just realized that with scaling enabled, I can spam a newbie zone with closely clustered quests and get some quicker exp than say, running around Ashenvale for hours. I usually hate scaling in RPGs, but this one makes the mobs green, so it's a decent trade off.

I'd recommending not doing this you'll miss out of tons of good Worldforged items, tradeskills will fall behind and you'll make a lot less gold from trash drops. It's nice for if you get stuck with no quests... it beats grinding but it's best to stay to quests that are near your level

it seems like most of the new players are returning players coming over from Classless Ascension, peak discord numbers are hitting 80k when they were around 50k before epoch and 60k since epoch launched, so an extra 20k people have come back to at least paying attention to ascension servers. Ascension doesnt publish population numbers so discord and how packed the server is is all you can really go on, seems like both bronzebeard and Malfurion are popping.

Some tips in case you guys are coming from turtle or whatever and arent' familiar with Ascension's ecosystem:

I'd recommend leaving scaling turned on, and turning off Transmogs during character creation. There's 8+ years of wallet warriors who have bought the most ridiculous retarded looking transmog sets on classless/elune who can vanity sync them over, nothing takes you out of the game more than a dude with wings in a ketchup and mustard colored suit riding a 20 foot dragon in the newbie zone.

Level scaling helps you avoid running out of quests or out leveling quests, at worst they trail 4 levels behind you and still award green exp. You can also redo starter zones for other races if you find your having trouble dealing with higher level mobs. remember mobs are harder here than other wow servers.

You can always turn scaling on/off by talking to the fate weaver NPC in your capital next to the bank and you can enable/disable transmogs in the wardrobe tab under N. Disabling transmogs is only for disabling other players transmogs on your screen, you will always see your own transmogs if you use them.

World forged items scale +/- 5 levels from the level of the zone you find them in, regardless of the scaling of that zone. ie if you are in a lvl 20 zone at lvl 15 or below and loot a world forged item, it will be level 15. if you are level 25 or above the item will be level 25. You can spend lots of runes to upgrade world forged to level 60, and then to each raid tier (ZG tier, MC tier, etc) once you have killed those raid bosses and unlocked those raid tiers. There are a handful of items that, once upgraded, are actually really good and worthy of upgrading (fire dmg trinket south of Ony's layer comes to mind)

I feel it’s worth saying that I’ve tried Bronzebeard with some friends and aside from the mounts and floating things around, this is the best iteration of classic-ish I’ve played.
I was wrong to jump the gun in saying I wouldn’t like it, or that it would be bad. The server crashes every hour are tiresome, but that will probably be resolved. Being able to dungeon with guildies at any level and having it all scale is pretty amazing.

spent too much time on my druid at launch (when I knew it was weak and my shaman would be my main for now) and in between adventures in emergency plumbing this weekend and the server issues/lag i'm disappointed in how little time i've had to level, i barely have 2 lvl 20s when I should be closing in on 60 by now :(

I like Bronzebeard a lot, but.

Scaling is screwed up at the moment I'm level 30 on my lock and some times when choosing rewards from a quest it's like Lol have a level 1 item bro, and not just that but mobs just feel so much damn stronger than they should be even with the changes they feel far to strong, like as a lock I shouldn't have problems dealing with 3 mobs and my voidwalker out. But my voidwalker just gets wrecked by more than 2 mobs at a time.

I see lots of fixes for Bronzebeard but it's like the fixes aren't done on Malfurion. Like the Enslave Demon mythic scroll, it's still busted, put in a ticket and it's been over a day. I'm not sure if they're just fixing Bronzebeard and calling Malfurion good since they'll eventually get combined but feels bad in that aspect.

Really wanted to use Enslave Demon despite knowing it's weak but the mythic scroll is bugged says it's for shaman and you can't collect it period.

This is a lot of fun, the the server stability is getting worse. 2-3 crashes in a few minutes are the new normal now. I actually died from the last disconnect just now :p God bless those stupid HC players though lol /cackle

The High Risk PVP is worthwhile to do. Especially if you're just out in the open world. You get mad dungeon drops from mobs. Yes you lose stuff on death but so what? You can just get more.

Good shit.
