This is rich:

ZeniMax Media senior QA tester Autumn Mitchell goes one step further than Branson, calling Microsoft "inhumane" for laying off people in the manner of which it did, and explains she was personally left in a state of "fight or flight" during the whole ordeal.

The same fight or flight this idiot and her team put customers through with thousands of bugs throughout their games relying on modders to fix the issues? Sounds about right.

The entire industry needs to cull the shit out of these people before it sinks any further.

And this one is more hilarious denial of what is really happening:

No Ubisoft. It's the same thing happening across the industry. DEI and SBI are a cancer not only to creative games and story-telling, but the industry in which they live and work demanding higher pay and union protection for shit work and results and the people hired, who have ZERO skill in creating while sucking off the tit of their race or made up gender which got them there in the first place.

new rumors that microsoft will basically be pulling out of the hardware biz, wouldn't really be surprising at all at this point

Tbh I still like my Xbox series x. I got it for $500 in 2021, it’s dependable.

I don’t buy any Xbox first patty games and don’t pay for Gamepass or online gaming. If I play online, it’s just on my pc.

that being said, if the options are PlayStation as the only hi fidelity console vs pc is going to be bad for consumers.

Yeah if that happens Sony will fuck up even more than they did this generation. At that point probably just a Nintendo console whenever they release any games, and PC. Stream from an Apple TV. Won’t be upgrading PS or Xbox obviously. Or, they move the next gen Xbox as third party branded as they are doing with the ridiculously overpriced Ally.

The only reason I would've bought an Ally Xbox would be if it natively played my entire Xbox library. It doesn't do that. It only plays Xbox PC games on the Xbox PC store. Huge fumble on their part. If it was just the Xbox One OS that only played games at 60 fps 1080p, I would've been fine with that tbh.

There is a faction that wants to keep doing what they are doing, and a faction that wants to get out of the games business (as much as they can, they just bought a 70B publisher; they haven't even written off the bribes yet) altogether because its too capital intensive and not providing ROI (primarily because you are all WOKE DEI fucks and Left Coast activist zombies).

We are witnessing the see-saw battle between these two groups play out over years as MS RAISES prices on 5 year old hardware due to "tariffs" (series X should in no way be more than 399 at this point, Series S shouldn't have ever existed but also shouldn't be but 199 or less); BOM costs have to be far less than that. Now GamePass price goes up 100% and rumors are that Xbox/GamePass was given the goal to his 30% *profitability* this (upcoming) year(? not sure if 25 or 26).

Sony recovered from the Disasterous PS3, MS never recovered XBox One/Xbox Series S.

Who knew consoles had peaked at Xbox 360/PS2; I mean, I like my XSX/PS5 but they were just PC clones, in the end. We need to get back to that level of market diversification. Not a single one of these Giant fuckstick companies looking for the Next Big Thing™ in gaming; IP/mechanic/whatever; no one cultivating a new (good) bioware/bungie/bethesda; its HR Dept and "Concentrating on major properties" as far as the eye can see, i.e. next quarter/EOY.

The only counter to this is the steam deck

What’s even funnier is if this out of touch DEI cum dumpster Sarah Bond thinks cloud streaming and their 1st party games, which are complete dogshit, can right the ship if they go complete software as a service - it will less than two years before MS is out of gaming entirely.

That sucks purely because Sony will be left unchecked. Nintendo survives in its own niche.

Thank God we still have steam and PC.

Have any of them tried cloud streaming?

I can’t even play my Xbox on a normal tv anymore. It has to be a monitor because the latency is so noticeable to me. I don’t have an LG C-series, but next tv I get will be that.

my tv is the Sony x80j with 8ms delay and 60 hz. Compare that to my HP Omen monitor at 1 ms delay and 165hz, it’s night and day difference in response time. Anyone who says humans can’t see more than 60hz is living in la la land. Some pilots can even see over 1000 fps.

I’ve tried cloud gaming and it does not work solely due to

1) you don’t own the game.

2) the latency is like 15 ms. Slide show.

If buying a game isn’t owning it, then I’m just not going to buy your services. I’ll just replay world at war or bad company 2, etc.

The only reason I have an Xbox series x is because those ps3/ps4 games were not properly ported to pc. They’re only ported with using a keyboard and the controller ports are all fucked up on almost anything released before 2016.

Seriously. Cloud streaming is a fucking joke and always will be. The fact they are tripling down on that shows how out of touch these idiots are.

What's ironic to me about cloud gaming is that of the few friends I know that might actually use it, they don't have the broadband to support the use of it (very rural area). Sure, they could get starlink or maybe cellular internet, but they would've already gotten that if they wanted it. Nearly all of them have a Nintendo Switch and either play that with their children or play their own games on a mobile phone.

I don't necessarily think this is a drop in the bucket to cloud gaming's revenue, but if you're looking to capture market share, wouldn't you want your product available to as many people as possible? Seems like this push to exclusive cloud gaming is bit early to market, which honestly is right on par for Microsoft.

The whole market push has been for PvP competitive low latency/High FPS experiences; more people are staying on 1440p and going for 240/360 fps; hence the high refresh monitors. I don't like it, as I have been playing on big (43") 4k monitors since 2008?ish (all hail 30fps) and am not going back. But the overall market trend, multiple attempts and other failures/lack of First mover success (Google Stadia/Geforce Now, etc) why do they think they can beat this trend? I guarantee they were the backend DC, or were consulted/proposed/saw project data to be the backend via Azure for at least one of these Cloud gaming flameouts. It's the height of Corp hubris to think that you are going to do it different enough/cracked the Code™ to succeed where every other Big Corp has failed. It reads to me very much like one of several initiatives in the offing and this is the one that cost the least/was the least risky so didn't die; not that it was a good idea on its merits but it was the last approach left standing in the room, Survivor-style.

It's reminiscent of how the CIA got Nixon to agree to Watergate; he didn't want to do anything then they proposed several even more egregious ideas and eventually Watergate sounded like the least stupid amongst them, so he went with it. It only gave them what they wanted and cost him the Presidency.

BTW, usual mouthpieces reporting Hardware still on, agreements and handwaving and all that. It's just so ugly and anti-consumer to watch what was once a great company, at least a great provider of experiences, fail like this so spectacularly and with such potential impact for gamers.

cloud streaming is fine if you want to play a video game for 1-2 mins. i've used it that way when traveling to log into something and do a daily quest (in forza horizon, COD) or whatever.

You can't actually "play" a game for more than a few minutes with streaming though. Its just absolutely not fun compared to playing a mobile game or a deck/switch 2. So we're in this constant dumpster fire where retard leaders who get shown a demo of cloud gaming think its fantastic and the future, but very few people would actually pay to play anything that way.

Google spent a few billion and left the biz, Amazon has Luna basically in hibernation in case some day everything comes together just right, and I guess now Microsoft is the one who will spend $10 billion to prove to themselves that cloud gaming is still not ready.

anyways other current rumor is that Microsoft is gonna basically build out PCs for their next gen system and maybe just license out the design to ASUS, Lenovo, Dell, etc to actually make the hardware. We'll see, I have zero confidence in anything Microsoft puts out anymore
