They still haven't made a formal annoucement in this regard, only done damage control through journalists. Why haven't they come out with kind of official statement? I think they are trying to let people down slowly and who knows what they will come back with later.

I think they got caught up in “we don’t want to tell people how to do this” type bullshit. They should have announced it. But the outcry still would have been there.
Ultimately, people can/should vote with wallets when/if they go beyond. But this right here I can’t really fault them on beyond how they decided to handle the PR.

The Fable showcase looks like absolute fucking trash.
It's another DEI infested pile of garbage with characters that talk like they're 21st century millennials. The 'funny' quips wore out their welcome 10 years ago and they just make me want to see those characters get killed in the most heinous ways.
Also, the cast looks like the game director said -- "Put in at least one of each 'type' of person and sprinkle in some extra minorities to do our part to atone for historical wrongdoing."
Fable was never for me because it was too whimsical and child-like for my tastes, but I have no idea who it (effectively a bunch of modern college students in a 'fantasy' setting) appeals to.

The sarcastic quips of humor trend needs to burn in hell - it's incredibly overplayed and lame as fuck. Bring some seriousness back to entertainment. It's Jon Stewart-esque lazy, late night humor.
I'm so annoyed at how cool Gears of War looked. Those cocksuckers.

In total, I've played about 20 minutes of Gears across all the games so I really don't have a grasp on how it's supposed to feel and look. I can always do without the butch lesbians, but the Gears showcase seemed decent to me.
What did they fuck up?
An aside -- I think every development studio with more than 10 people has at least one goddamn tranny.

I played 1-3; it was just a lot of fun co-op. One of the best moments in gaming is using a chainsaw to cut through the mobs - it was amazing. I have no idea how the series progressed after that, it looked stupid.
The showcase today pissed me off initially because I thought it was just releasing on Xbox, and it was annoying that here they are showing this seemingly next gen revisiting of Gears, and they were going to limit it to some overpriced dog shit console. Luckily, that's not the case.
