Just finished another playthrough of this. Still one of my top games ever. I started playing on the steam deck, but ended up moving over to the computer. Still a little janky on the steamdeck, but definitely playable.

First time playing WOTC. Apparently my steam workshop mods don't work though? Do I need to do something special to enable workshop mods when playing WOTC, or is it because I started on steamdeck and then switched the save over to desktop?

Pretty sure the issue is neither WotC or Steam Deck but rather because you can't add mods to a playthrough already in progress.

Long war of the chosen or only the base game mod? LWOTC has been getting updates and thats what Ive played so Im unsure for how the original mod differs now.

Most important thing is to understand how retaliations work and to change your haven loadout to avoid them. Basically if strength is 3 or more and vigilance 2 or more you want to put all but 2 guys into hiding. https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/Haven_Management_(LWOTC)

Running intel is most important at the start to generate missions with enough time to get good infiltration. Pursue the liberation missions in at least 1 territory so you can start earning supply income by like the 3rd month? If you start jacking up vigilance in a territory by running lots of missions there the aliens will reinforce the strength level and make missions a lot harder. So you want to draw their attention to one location and then hit another to keep the missions easier.

Research wise get access to contact neighboring territory and then go for better guns and armor as the first path - I like to mostly skip lasers and go directly to T3 (coil guns?) because buying up each tier gets really expensive.

The base game version is what I'm playing. Seriously supply constrained, but its fairly early. I have the usa taken over and territory bonus but that's it

I've been forever since I played base game, but you have a few options

1) Once the Black Market opens, you can trade intel for supplies if you are desperately low. From what I recall, the ratio of trade is pretty good

2) Do the "scan here for rewards" things that pop on the map, some have good supply rewards

3) Missions will usually indicate what the rewards are, so if you have multiple choices and there isn't a big drawback (ie, you REALLY need to stop a certain dark event), then you can go for the supply rich mission

4) Resistance contacts will boost supply economy

I’m about 70% of the way through a Long War 1 campaign. Debated moving to LWotC afterward, never got far into that.

Dude it’s a legit masterpiece, I come back to it every 2-3 years without fail.
It's definitely the superior mod. The original Long War fit very naturally into the campaign of X-Com whereas Long War 2 felt a bit more forced, like 'how are we going to fit our ideas and the new X-Com 2 style of gameplay together' because everyone expected them to make a sequel of their own. Their biggest success imo was pushing Firaxis into making X-Com 2 mod friendly from the start.

It's a shame that their creativity kinda goes to waste without a more limited project scope/someone tightly holding onto their reins because Terra Invicta is an autistic messterpiece.

Yeah I’m speaking of LW1. LW2 is mid at best.
