Okay I will bite. Why is her acting awful?

She is a British actor who manages the American accent pretty damn well. Now she might overact a little but I honestly think that has some to do with directing, more than her acting. Also she is second behind Rip Wheeler for popularity in the show. That says a lot when you consider that puts her above Keven Costner. The only weakness she has is when she has to act out sensitive. She is not spot on with crying but she still managed to carry the part well enough.

I’ve said this before in this thread. She’s one of the reasons I quit watching the show. She really is awful at acting. It’s just over the top horseshit. I regretted even getting two odd seasons into it.

Subjective perhaps but I found her to be extraordinarily hammy in this.

I’m even familiar with her from other work and some low budget European movies from the early 2000s where I didn’t find her as annoying.

I don’t blame her for everything as I find her character as written to be awful also.

If you google things like “Beth ruined Yellowstone” or “Beth acting sucks Yellowstone” there’s definitely no lack of people with the opinion. I’ll give it to you of course that many people liked her.

If you made Yellowstone without Beth and without the dumb indian bitch and her entire storyline, the show would be about 200% better. And shorter.

I kind of dont get the Beth hate. I mean obviously I hate the character, but arent we supposed to? Its like hating Sylar on BB or Joffrey on GoT. I don't see how its a knock on the actress, or even the writers. She's terrible, thats who the character is.

That annoying Indian chick was 100x worse cause she was clearly written to make us root for her, but she's just insufferable.

Agree 100%. Shes obviously good at acting if you hate her and the character that much. The character was written to be awful and very extreme. Ive seen her in a bunch of other things and she does a good job too when shes not playing Beth.

Its just the archetype of the badass woman that takes no shit doesn't really exist in real life, particularly not the way she is played. She acts like she's Reacher and everyone should be afraid of her, and in the context of the show everyone is. Makes no sense. She would get knocked the fuck out in half the scenes she's in the way she acts, but everyone acts afraid of her.

It's just a super unrealistic trope that Sheridan puts in every show and is annoying.

I wouldn't blame her personally. I think she's playing the part Sheridan wrote in the way he told her to play it. She's just a slightly more extreme version of many of his female characters.
