Try putting your cell phone on a tripod or holding it really still and take a shot in dark/night mode. That's how I got the shots I posted. That wasn't what you see with the naked eye.The sun is coming up here. I checked during the night several times and never could see anything. I guess I'm too far south.
The field stabilized last evening and it suppressed the aurora bigly. Might have a chance to catch the last CME tonight again.Crystal clear but nothing visible to the naked eye in OR last night, bummer. Not an interesting phenomenon if it only shows up as an artifact of long exposure photography.

Sounds like it was pointed away from us enough that it wont make auroras as large as last week, unfortunately.The most likely event from Earth will be the ability to see the Northern lights at more southern latitudes.
I guess we still don't know for sure, next year may give more data, but turns out maybe Carrington type events have been overhyped in their potential for shutting down civilization? Will be interesting to see upcoming studies talking about this one
