He does talk about the heating element but that some dishwasher models don't even turn it on with the first fill of water. So running the tap until hot ensures that the first fill will at least be as hot as your hot water heater is putting out.

I wouldn't buy a used 86 considering what people are asking for them right now. The car market is still screwed and it will likely take a few years before the used models come back down to where they should be. But inflation is going to keep prices pretty stupid.
