The only scene in the movie I did not get (I'm a low brow curmudgeon who moonlights as a troglodyte) was the end where the protagonist is crying in the back of the transport. Why is she crying? Because her friend died? Because she indirectly killed women? Because she successfully turned at windmills? Because she's a female? Because she knows she's a 6/10 at best (knees too sharp)?
I think that she was crying because her career is probably over at the CIA. She pissed off too many people. But, I guess after 10 years of doing only one thing and the climatic ending....what else has she got to look for?

Carrie from Homeland is very similar to Maya, I wonder if she was loosely based off this CIA agent.

I just assumed it was because she finally accomplished what she spent the last ten years working towards. Also, did I hear it right that the CIA recruited her right out of high school?

I'm surprised the movie didn't spend any time showing the amount of training the SEAL team did at the full-scale replica of the compound prior to the raid.

It was her fully realizing the culmination of 10 years of her life. They made it pretty clear she had no life outside of her job and her one and only job was OBL. It was equal parts emotional release, trepidation about the future, and confronting the fact that she might not have a real purpose or role to fill with her life now.

It is the same emotional roller-coaster people go through when they retire from jobs, get out of a relationship, or women have with postpartum depression. They realize their life is undergoing some serious change and they are not quite sure if they can handle it yet.

Movie was okay, not great.

Anyone else bothered by how much music it stole from Syriana? It really took me out of it.

She was crying , cause its Vindication of all the hardwork she has done and the CIA.
However Most of all she was crying for all the dead CIA,contracters friends etc that had died to make the world better place by geting ridden of Bin Laden.

Saw the movie last night and can certainly understand the criticisms. It is not a great movie, but merely just a good one.

I thought for a story that took an event that everyone knows about, and tried to introduce you to the people that made it happen, the character development was largely lacking. They portrayed Maya as simply an cunt with aspergers. After this and Hurt Locker, I think Kathryn Bigelow can make a great movie, but I am not convinced she can tell a great story. Her characters have no soul or charisma what so ever.

All the controversy about torture was overblown too. It was a reality, it happened, and then things changed. The whole thing was a documentary, showing the events of what lead to killing OBL. It wasn't social commentary justifying anything.

This movie is a 7 out of 10... maybe a 6. Skip it and watch a documentary. It will be shorter and more accurate.
Pretty much exactly how I felt coming out of the theater. That final scene where she cries a lonely tear on an empty plane fell so fucking flat with me. The actress was boring. The character was severely underdeveloped.

I was mostly entertained so I don't really regret seeing it but I doubt if I'll ever watch it again. What would be the point? It bottles my mind that they are throwing awards at this movie.

Saw this last night was mostly bored until the assault at the end. The seal team members whispering to the terrorists on the stairs was comedy gold though.

My highlights of the movie were just randomly seeing Mark Duplass and Chris Pratt. Could not shake off their characters in Parks/League.

Too bad Homeland's writers have started taking lessons from the guys behind 24.

I saw this movie last night and thought it was pretty good. My biggest complaint was how the movie jumped around so much. It seemed like they were more inclined to go through a checklist of "important" events rather than trying to create a compelling narrative. They used enough creative liberties with Maya that they could have removed a good number of extraneous scenes, particularly some of the interrogation ones, and made the movie flow better.
