My friend is paranoic of installing keyloggers and/or been caught by Daybreak =)

In terms of how different a linux installation is vs a windows installation; it is very similar to using hammer to drive a nail into wood, vs using a hammer to smash your dick in.

Very similar.

Can't you do anything legally? You play EQ like you came to our country.

That is scamming a seller. Are we talking about RMTers who jack cards or chargeback or otherwise scam? Or just raw RMTing? Dumping an account onto the market when you quit is in no way analogous.

I work in the software industry and have never sold a single krono RMT, by the way. Fuck off with the personal quips they make you sound dumb.

Like I had said originally, there are tiers of RMT. I agree someone who dumps an account they're done with is less of a loser than the 500 lb man living in his grandma's trailer who farms krono all day while playing from his bed. But they're still on the loser spectrum. I've always had valuable accounts in every MMO I've played, and when my time was done I just quit playing--I've never sold one, and never will.

And the personal quips actually make me sound smart, not dumb.

I lost passion for the game after the third TLP back to back and when they added in agents of change. How can you race to do the same thing over and over, with no break between TLPs, and how can you feel like your racing was worth it when scrubs can just go into an AoC get the same shit. EQ to me was about putting in the time and having noticable advantage, beating/racing guilds.

So yeah after the big let down called ragefire I was like rip eq.

I sorta feel the same way, in most games like WoW hardcore PvE progression was really hard content so that was enough of a challenge. Anyone who was in say a top 100 US guild was playing at a high level, but they eventually stopped rewarding the best raiders with dramatically better gear, so at that point it's basically a pure prestige thing (which was enough for me for years, I played WoW for like 6 years.)

In EQ the fights themselves just aren't hard, yeah if you're doing Nagafen or Vox server first on a new TLP with average raid lvl of 45-46 and tanks who have literally nothing but banded and empty slots, that's difficult in a sense, but even then it's not "technically" difficult, i.e. it's not difficult "content", the strategy is still the same and it's pretty one dimensional, it's just harder to win because you lack appropriate raid level and gear. After the first week there's basically no challenge to EQ fights at all, and it'll basically be that way for the life of Agnarr because the server never gets into the expansions with genuinely hard content. So the challenge was really in being a better run/organized guild that could respond and win DPS races, and when they took that away I do think it made TLP less fun.

Agnarr works for me because I know it's temporary, I wouldn't be interested in doing it very long term.

Any guild drama going down besides neckbeards arguing over how much Taco Bell they buy with Kronoz?

EQ was never a difficult game. Just the mechanics of the game itself make it a non skill intensive game. There's no aiming. No dodging. You avoid AoE's by timing them and standing behind a wall. Your entire raid is pretty much dependent on how well geared your main tank is. It's really more about min/maxing than anything else which isn't exactly difficult to do.

I think eq really stands apart from other mmos in that the solo and small group game tends to have the ability for talent to really shine while raids, at least for a while, are mostly pay the fuck attention and don't fuck up to win. Something as simple as raiding fear vs trying to break it solo as a nec. Running dozens through a vp clear vs duoing chardok royals.

If you think EQ doesn't take skill then go play with the fucking idiots who join at progression startup. I never realized just how BAD you can be at EQ until I was grouping for levels. So obviously if you can be bad then it takes some form of skill to be good.

Its not really skill required for EQ, just knowledge. Gaming skill (to me) is being able to throw a nade of a particular wall corner to bounce exactly where it needs to be, or to be able to execute a combo flawlessly in a fighting game, speed running older games etc.

EQ on the other hand, you just have to know when to push buttons and what things do. Like the people bitching about casters who dont know you need to sit to regen mana. None of these things require much practice.

Is there a video game this doesn't describe?

Knowing what buttons to push to shoot an AWP and what it does, doesn't mean you're going to be killing anyone. If you can target a mob and push attack, you've got 90% of EQ figured out. EQ just isnt a high skill game. Maybe monk pulling has an argument. Or some crazy chanter/bard CC lockdown scenario.

Just because the average person has a double digit IQ doesn't mean EQ takes skill. I'd say it's 90% common sense and 10% skill. You're never aiming anything and you're never dodging anything. Everything is very straight forward. Take a game like LoL or HotS for instance. You not only have to have the knowledge of what things do but you have to have the physical and mental capability of executing them in real time which requires a great deal of eye hand coordination and precision as well as speed. In EQ all you're doing is targeting a mob and clicking a couple of buttons. You don't even have to move or do anything other than this for the most part. The very fact that people have boxed entire raids by themselves proves the game takes little skill. Boxing an entire raid by yourself however I would say takes skill but playing a single character? Sorry but very little skilled involved in this.

If EQ is not skill then neither is WoW. Or any MMO for that matter.

Exactly. MMO's generally only require the knowledge aspect and lack in the skill to execute department. Like, how does knowing you have to stand behind a mob and press auto attack + back stab as a rogue take any skill? How does throwing a spear from 250 range as a monk and hitting FD a few times to split mobs take any skill? I'd say MMO's take more patience and general game mechanic knowledge than anything else really.
