In my opinion, 10,000 days was by far their worst album. I’m so worried this next album will be more like that than the previous four. And then what...wait 13 more years for maybe another album? Man, this sucks. I hope I’m wrong.

I have a hard time believing that if they were actually writing a good album, they would still be working on it 5 years after they started saying it was coming out.

Considering how heavily politics surrounding 9/11 & Bush leaked into 10k, I don't really have much hope that a new album wouldn't just be the same, but raging against Trump. If I want to listen to music artists masturbate all over their work, I'll just load up some prog.

Musicians having a political message when Republicans are in office? Damn dude - taking a real leap with that one.

I don't have any issue with politically influenced music. I just don't want to hear half an album of "Trump = Nazi Germany"

Tool fueled my critical thinking skills over the 200 cap.
I'm not familiar with any Tool songs against that simple principle.
911? Maybe I dont break down songs the way you and probably others do.
Can you link what you mean?

They did and continue to for me as well. I take no issue with any of their songs and appreciate even the more politically minded ones.

My concern about this comes from MJK's condemnations about Trump (half of which I agree with) over the past number of years and how such strong experiences are the prime inspiration for any artist, especially one that fuels their work in the way he does.

Add that onto how politics bleeds all over every single form of entertainment now and it causes endless frustration.

I just don't want to have another thing I love be another shout in the chorus of screaming that won't end, and it's making me irrational towards any potential for it happening.

APC is the band he does political shit with and Eat The Elephant wasn't that political iirc. If there is anything political on the next Tool album, it'll be vague and open to interpretation. It's more likely to be more along the lines of culture and human nature critiques, than anything political.

Yeah I'm having a hard time thinking of an overtly political Tool song.

I am very tired of every musician thinking that writing a song about Donald Trump is somehow accomplishing something besides making their music worse.

It will be vague and only bother you if you let it. Don’t let it.

I still like Puscifer, all their albums are on my playlist. I think its some of his best shit yet, IMO. But with this dude, anything Maynard touches turns to gold.
