It's easily the best game in the series imo, but I wouldn't pay full price for it now on PS4 and wouldn't touch the PC version at all because of Denuvo. Gamefly's not a bad choice if you're still subscribing, it's available immediately and if you don't want to tie up a rental slot for a rather long JRPG then you can keep it for like $16.

In queue today, ship tomorrow, arrive on Tues. would be my guess because of the holiday.

All threads derail into which FF is best/worst eventually and then we necro the opposite thread to try and have relevant discussion until the cycle repeats.

XIII-2 and LR are vastly better games than XIII, but you would at least need to know what happened in XIII to not be completely lost.

I thought the open section of XIII (Gran Pulse) was actually the worst part and pretty much just finished the story and never went back to it. Farming it amounts to killing adamantoises over and over and over, and the only effective way to do it is with Vanille using Death and that gets mindnumbingly boring really fast. Farming XIII-2 was much more fun and I did basically everything you could possibly do in that game.

LR is a completely different beast, and it's more of a tri-Ace game than what you'd expect from FF. Some people complained about the time mechanic, but it was a non-issue once you learn how it works.

13-2 has a much improved battle system than 13, but the story is a complete fucking mess.

Lightning returns is the worst of both worlds, an utterly garbage story with an absolutely awful combat system.

Ive played every FF game at least 2 or 3 times, many of them much more, but LR is the only one i could never finish, it IS that bad.

13-2 was pretty fun, if a little on the easy side. Story didn't make a lot of sense until the info dump at the end, but at least the villain had clear motivations.

I couldnt imagine playing through 13 multiple times, or the japanese FF2
