I think launching with t2 and adding t3 in 3 months would have been the smarter move, for a variety of reasons. Throwing in early t3 might add a few raids, but it makes t1 and t2 completely irrelevant content that people will just want to rush through as fast as possible.

Akkshoo-uh-lee that's not the case. At tier 3, switching to a skill that you don't have tripod bonuses for on your gear, AND a gem with that skill will result in a huge dps loss. Lol. The game is beautiful, the sound design and music are excellent and the combat is fun. And, and long as you don't feel like you have to rush, you can just play casual and completely free and it's really not so bad. If you treat it like a race/job, you're probably gonna have a bad time.

There is zero reason to rush any gear upgrades. Getting the right engravings for your class/build is way more important, prioritize your gold for that.
