Chrono Trigger on Ps1 had super slow loading times, same with all the FF remakes. And Chrono Cross wasn't 1/100th the game that Trigger was, plus there were much better (and less played) Ps1 RPG's:
They don't have access to the source code or world building tools. All they can do is modify already existing assets and systems.
