The Beta impressions coming from the gaming media are not encouraging. Most seem to be of the flavor of "I really wanted to like this but..."

Flashback Fitz is still Fitz!

Same things happened to me! I was so excited (stupidly so...) and then very disappointed.

Did the original ever come to the US via streaming etc? Ive never been able to find it :(

We should not be surprised by this because it's absolutely in the playbook for Square Enix and Sony. Does not make it less sucky though

Orville was cancelled by Hulu officially so the upcoming 3rd season will be the last. It's production space is being taken over by the new Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series which already has a two season commitment.

Yeah the bones are definitely there. There is quite a lot of stuff that is well done, but the character abilities / progression is gonna be a deal breaker for a lot of people unless they toss it in the garbage and start anew.

I still wanna play the game from those cinematics....sigh.

The aiming mechanic makes Magic straight-up garbage. If you are really careful you can accomplish with magic what a sword wielder can do while facerolling. The actual abilities are just total horseshit as well. The UX for them is bad and the overall reward is actually negative. You are less...

Season 2 is now live and the first episode jumps right back into the thick of it. I'm eager to see more.

So it's Guild-Wars. Run around using your weapon to get skill with it and unlock all your abilities within the first few hours of playing and then it's all DAOC-like stuff. Don't care for the targeted abilities and that whole arcade-style combat. Not sure what I was expecting, but this ain't it.

This is now live and seems enjoyable enough. I dug the first episode at least. The lack of proper voices isn't too bad, but it would be so much better if they had the right actors.

Also on PondScum. Managed to get to the same point RE: world data and am now back in a queue. 2624 and counting.

Can we hope that in the finale we finally get to see Daisy unleashed? Puhleaaaze?!!?

This is very commendable. Anyone who is taking a fundamentally different take on the new hardware cycle is doing it wrong.

The Sith Eternal and the whole Sith Fleet etc. are such a waste of an idea. The concept of the Empire continuing on as a cult of rabid loyalists is a good pivot after Return of the Jedi, but the First Order did that schtick already. The bigger issue is that no one hears about the Sith until a...

They are adding heroes it seems... They just announced Hawkeye as a post-launch hero.

Looking through the Art of Rise of Skywalker you really get an impression that there was a much more visually engaging version of the movie just out of reach. There are some amazing visuals and concepts they developed for it which got tossed aside by JJ in favor of much more pedestrian designs...

So AMC and Universal kissed and made up. Theater exclusive for 3 weekends (17 days) before digital release.

I have to imagine that they are using the whole 'time works differently in the Shadowlands' to explain why there will be a big-ole-reset-button type bit for the expansion that follows. We leave the Shadowlands and find that Azeroth is, again, very different than when we left (despite the fact...

I do think that Microsoft has a winning formula with the GamePass business. I've played many games now that I would not have touched were it not for GamePass AND gotten some games that I wanted badly on day one.

https://www.theverge.com/2020/7/16/21327330/microsoft-xbox-one-x-s-digital-edition-discontinued Only Xbox One S will still be made. The others are DQ'd already.

My logic goes like this -- they would normally keep the previous generation and the new generation around at different price points for the first year because people wanted to play older games or people couldnt afford the new gen etc. However the backwards compatibility eliminates the desire to...

They shut down the Xbox One X production line in order to crank out more Series X units, so my gut tells me the price point for this thing is going to be similar to that if the current Xbox One X. It's still very weird to be <4 months from launch and know so little.

With the success of these time limited demos done in lieu of the traditional summer cons I wonder if companies will change their overall strategy and move away from developing micro-builds to demo in the booth and more stuff like this? I've checked out a LOT of Indy titles and misc stuff I...

There is apparently a stress test of this happening this weekend. Only saw a notification about it after the registration deadline had passed. Very angry at myself for not checking my promotions folder and angry at Google for only having the relevant email show up in my feed today.

Just a note that this is now on PC GamePass for those who are at all interested. I'm enjoying it and GamePass is a gift that keeps on giving.

How is heroes becoming royalty 'woke'?

It really does look like an Elder Scrolls game that's for damn sure.

I mean it was only a matter of when, not if

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/bill-ted-face-music-hit-vod-cinemas-simultaneously-1304065 Meanwhile AMC just pushed their opening back at least 2-3 more weeks to "mid-August"

The digital environment they use to film this affords them significant speed advantages when it comes to production cycles. A few people and Unreal engine can do overnight what it would take a crew of hundreds to do over weeks.

Here I was hoping that someone had made a MurderHobos themed board game

https://omacinema.com/#page1 Theater or senate? Note the insanity taking place in the upper left corner of that mock up

With respect to the 100% from the comics

Well....
