Pretty valuable story. After my surgery they decided to remove the staples one day. I wasn't on any pain medication, it hurt like fuck. After the 3td staple being yanked I finally said, holy crap that hurts... do you have any topical painkiller or something? The nurses comment...

I have the same thing but mine is milder. My figuring it out moment was when I had a cardiac arrest. I quoted that part because looking back it should have been obvious to the many medical professionals whom i had told about symptoms related to it in the past. Even as a teenager I remember...

Yeah, I wasn't trying to sell you on it, either you'll like it or you won't. I really liked books 1-3 of HWFWM, but not really at all after that. My post on it. Post in thread 'LitRPG' LitRPG

Him strongly pursuing power, for himself and the people in his group is pretty much his thing. He stays punchable and without visible emotion really.

It's a wider character arc. He doesn't show emotion and has a punchable face. His actions show something else. He's frustrated by people who don't take action to better themselves, and not really willing to save them. If someone tries to better themselves, not faking it, he'll tell them...

Funny, I thought the first 3 were the peak for that series.

Dude needs to choose a wife already. I know the silver haired chick is the obvious choice but seriously... the redhead.

Yup.

I get your point on the main character, but he does only sleep with female characters. Like every Litrpg the writer tends to push something and then within a couple pages contradicts that assertion directly. I actually find that pretty funny. The only one that isn't on your list that I really...

The is an interesting list. I haven't read Blue Core or Path of Ascension, I'll have to give them a run. I definitely didn't like He who Fights that much, at least after the 3rd book and I l'd probably move Mage Tank up to just under primal hunter. It's interesting where you have DCC. It...

Seriously, was the first question that popped into your mind something about her cracking her knuckles? The first ones for me were more along the line of, what fucking mutation led to that, why didn't you just amputate, and is your leg like that as well?

Bring the Amphora back!

Wow, I did not expect a feel good story in this thread. An owner that good you don't eat all at once...or something.

Ok, done with He who fights with monsters book 9 and I'm done with the series. I liked the first 3 books quite a bit, the second 3 were bad and the last 3 I read were average at best. Minor rant and spoilers/not spoilers ahead.

He who fights with monsters review so far (through book 4). Varying wildly from excellent to wtf bad. Books 1-3 had sections that were among my favorites of all time in litrpg, especially with how he dealt with abilities (other than forgetting about them sometimes), and every now and then...

I don't know if this is a feel good parenting story or just a story I feel like sharing, either way here it is. My son asked me to take him and his son (5yo) camping. Not tough like the BWCA/Quetico but remote enough to be away from stuff. I've been very involved in the grandsons life so...

I'd say that simply putting something in space doesn't make it sci-fi any more than putting a story on a boat makes it a pirate tale. .

"Not a very good science fiction movie but a fun feel good movie." I never claimed it wasn't science fiction, I just said it wasn't very good science fiction. I can add on, here's the story. Hey random guy that had an idea once, teach our astronauts that idea! Nevermind that people in...

"Science fiction (often shortened to sci-fi or SF) is a genre of speculative fiction that deals principally with the impact of actual or imagined science and technology upon society or individuals. Unlike fantasy, which relies on magic or the supernatural, science fiction grounds its...

Done work Mage Tank 5 and Primal Hunter 16. Both were pretty good with Primal Hunter being the better of the two even though it was all setup for the next arc. It is a bit weird how careful the author is to make sure he doesn't just forget characters, but then he misses whole plot points...

There are very few that push any boundaries in science fiction. Some ideas i get a kick out of seeing on screen though. I liked Gattaca, especially the scene where the doctor convinces the parents that they owe it to their child to take advantage of all the medical technology that's...

I finally watched this and am firmly in the camp of not a very good science fiction movie but a fun feel good movie. I think the comment from my wife was along the likes of it being like reading a short story from one of those old science fiction compilations and then hollywooding it up. We...

Mage Tank book 5 is like a primer in how to handle the administrative shit every hero eventually has to deal with. I know this series is no where near finished but it does raise the question, has any series like this had an actual ending that was satisfying and felt like a sensible place to...

That drool in the intro had me loling.

It's got ups and downs. The bad guy being a stereotype doesn't help. I'd say the first book is a good representation of the series. There are good things and stupid things. I liked it enough to finish it but i almost stopped several times.

They're is the fan made booster called The Crimson Scales, it might be hard to find but it's a large expansion to Gloomhaven.

I'm reading the Battleforged series now, it reminds me of reading Eragon. I really wouldn't recommend it unless you are ready to either reread the same things over and over again, aren't tired of every fantasy trope ever, and like deus ex machina.
