End of film: Paramount first studio to stop distributing film prints - latimes.com I can see why they were stealthy about abandoning film for all the various nostalgia reasons etc. but honestly its time had come. Digital projection has come a long way in just a few years and the cost of a...

I did not realize that Laurel was Ruby until you just mentioned it. Holy cow... she was pretty damn good as Ruby, what the hell happened? I could see Ruby as Black Canary... Laurel I cannot.

Well they not only name checked Hydra but also A.I.M. (well and centipede...) So there is some chance we may get better villains at somepoint. Also with Gravitron and now Blizzard they are doing a pretty darn good job of making terrible terrible just plain awful villains into intriguing...

Go watch the original Planet of the Apes or Logan's Run, that is what Sci-Fi had become until 1977 when Star Wars was released. It really was such a monumental "OMG" change of quality and overall impact that it completely altered the way movies were made from then on. I was a little kid when...

Asian Americans make up 5.8% of the U.S. Population according to our dear friends at the Census Bureau, so if you mentally tag every asian you see tomorrow while walking around as "gay" then you get an idea of what sort of magnitude we're talking about here. As to the validity of the 5-10%...

I was actually kinda of excited about the prequels following Phantom Menace because I felt they were setting up the Evil Galactic Empire to be something of a force of good compared to the really heavily corrupt and effectively paralyzed Republic. In that context Palpatine, realizing there is no...

Monsanto is evil, but more for reasons of using science to create agribusiness monopolies and overly aggressive lobbying rather than because of genetic modification by itself. I do buy all my meat from Whole Foods, but that has more to do with other local grocery stores having incredibly poor...

I tend to try and live by the "Mind your own business" model of social interaction and so am mostly inclined to let closeted people live their closeted lives but with the proviso that once their closeted nature starts to directly impact other people in a negative manner then all bets are off...

But yes it is an idiotic rule because it just invites you to be wiped out of existence by freak accident or a bad run in with some Jedi. Then again every Sith seems to have broken that rule, so it is something of a moot point other than being useful to justify killing any other Sith you run across.

This is a movie where you leave the cinema and by the time you get to the coffee shop you've all started Googling to compare real life to the events portrayed on the screen. Even more so in this case since the situation, especially the existence of the audio tapes and the excerpts used in the...

It must be much easier to keep your continuity when you don't have to bother with making anything consistent with anything else. How liberating...also sloppy.

I dunno. I could see 'Todd' doing well in the role. He clearly has some acting chops despite his goofy appearance and honestly the goofy appearance actually enhances his ability to do drama because you just don't expect much out of such a dopey-Opie Taylor expression.

It cant be good that I found myself rewinding just because I was getting the dull characters confused with one another. I'll give it a couple episodes but only because there is nothing else to watch. I will say that I got a twinge of nostalgia for "Sci-Fi Fridays" with this airing last night...

Finally got around to seeing this. It diverges from the book quite a bit in terms of particulars but the core story elements are there. Nick becomes much more of a cypher since you don't really get into his head as much as you do when reading the book. Baz tried to correct this by having the...

This was terrible. Nothing really got revealed in any meaningful way AND we had the intelligence gathering power of a globe spanning super spy network outfoxed and out performed by Tits McGee using a goddamn dialing wand. I have no idea what Joss Whedon could possibly be thinking with this...

I am okay with pharma companies recouping their development costs by charging premium prices for patented drugs as this profit engine directly impacts the entire research and development cycle. This, however, is so far beyond the cost of development that it really raises the question of how...

Really disliking the voice actor for Batman

Colorado River Drought Forces a Painful Reckoning for States - NYTimes.com http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0510224444.htm Nearly 10 years ago I attended a session at a conference on the usage of remote sensing (satellites) to monitor vegetation health on a daily basis and the...

I'm dating someone right now that went through a bankruptcy this year and lives paycheck-to-paycheck. I have to say that it really acts as a caution sign when ever I think about long term possibilities, especially ones in which our finances get merged.

Peter Berg. The ending alterations had his fingerprints all over it. I'm surprised he was as restrained as he was, but given the non fiction nature of the whole narrative it makes it difficult to do too much.

I genuinely don't have a problem with microtransactions in the context of actually being MICROtransactions and/or in the context of fluff content. Where I have an issue is when the magnitude of the microtransaction not only rivals but far exceeds the cost of a full retail title or is so...

Got to play with Project Spark today. The technology behind it is quite impressive and I am very intrigued by the ability of this game to teach the fundamentals of logic-based coding and elementary computer science. It certainly has the potential to be much more ground breaking in terms of...

Fun fact: Peter Capaldi is the same age as William Hartnell was when he took on the role of the Doctor back in 1963 and is thus tied as the oldest actor to take on the role (Troughton was 46 and Jon Pertwee 51 when they became the 2nd and 3rd Doctors)

Out of sheer random boredom while surfing Netflix I popped on 'Rose' to revisit the start of the modern series and just happened to notice something: In the Xmas special Clara is living in the same estate apartments as Rose and Jackie. Now it could just be a coincidence of convenience for...

Also note that Tasha is short for Natasha = Birth Day and is a name often given to girls born around Christmas and Lem backwards is...

MEGA SPOILERS

Every single time I look at Wildstar I think of the above. I wouldnt put it past their wacky marketing team to do a Machinima parody of this using in game assets and changed lyrics.

I keep hoping that someone will make a show like this, and that instead of going the "ho hum" episodic route they just slam the audience in the face and continue to escalate the concept until it reaches an apocalyptic breaking point and that's it. Design it as a fixed duration miniseries but...

I actually patched up Rift the other day and after logging in went to the forums to see what was what regarding Mage builds and promptly ran away screaming when I saw the sheer number of buttons present in a 'standard rotation' and that was with macros being used! The presence of a finite...

New series by JJ Abrams and Alfonso Cuaron. I have no idea what JJ has to do with it, but Alfonso at least directed the pilot and came up with the very high concept of the series. It seems as if the series, which NBC is already promoting for midseason and which will likely get promoted to...

If you stick to LFR raiding and daily quest stuff for tradeskills etc then the game very much is a single player MMO. Hell people don't even have names anymore, its just Tank, DPS and Healz (always with the z...)

I had fun with KI the day Xbone came out, then I got a horrible thumb blister and havent played it again. I think the lack of a way to unlock characters through gameplay turned me off. When I realized that my KI points were solely for fashion items and that I had to toss a few bucks at...

I cannot play an MMO anymore without a Razr Naga mouse, but I have yet to feel any compulsion to try out those various secondary hand devices. Maybe it is because I only use that hand for text typing and movement.

Orlando Bloom's CGI facelift was a bit distracting, thankfully he didnt stand still much

I made the mistake of not checking the list before I went to see the film. I went to the same theater that I saw the high frame rate version last year but for whatever reason they elected to not do it HFR this year. I was a bit surprised as I thought the adoption of HFR would be greater, not...

I think we have yet to really see Grundy. Afterall he is billed as "The Acolyte" in the episodes we just saw and the last time we see him his head is damaged and he is horribly disfigured by the chemical which turns his skin grey. I think he will recover and become the super strong undying...

Watched the first 15 mins video from MMORPG.com I do hope that the game system is up to snuff, because the art direction and insane humor of the thing is quite compelling

I will laugh my ass off when Arrow / Flash end up being much better and more beloved than Batman vs Superman

Although we have seen them make use of Ferris Aviation aircraft and mention Coast City...

Nah its more than just Shado... afterall he mentions putting an arrow through his eye so clearly Ollie and Slade tangled at somepoint after we see Shado die. Slade Wilson has always been a very complex villain and I have faith that we will see more and more layers of his motivation.
