I gotta admit I'm jealous. I live in Florida so the chances I get to see them are few and far between. Last year they came to Atlanta, which I was able to make, but before that? 2001 in Birmingham, Alabama for TPATG. Missed that show but I remember thinking, 'no worries, they'll be back around...

Can confirm: Boss Katana is pretty excellent, especially for the money (I have the 100w 112, rigged up to a Marshall 4x12 cab). But, if you're going to do any gigging with it, I HIGHLY recommend the GA-FC footswitch. And it is absolutely giggable. If you like Boss pedals, you'll like the Katana.

Another Thornley interview from a few days ago from Anderton's UK. This one is better imo. Ian's playing is, as usual, superb, but I really enjoyed him talking about his influences, and the slide playing at the very end is monstrous.

Figured this would go here. Great interview with Ian Thornley. He plays and talks technique, gear, and pretty much geeks on guitar out for close to an hour.

Ian Thornley (Big Wreck) Solo Album

Been a huge fan for many years and I'm excited to see Ian put out something a little different than the BW material. I hope it hits!

    Greatest Guitar Solo

Start about 2:20. Thornley channels a bit of Albert King/SRV here, and his phrasing and use of space are just about perfect.

Spent the weekend looking for a new guitar. Played a veritable shit ton. I've mostly been a Fender guy, having owned a couple of Strats and Teles over the years but for some reason I had my mind set on a Les Paul. I hadnt considered Epiphone, really, until I rounded the corner of a rack and saw...

Traded a couple of six packs of Guinness for these three dismantled MLs a few days ago. Started sanding them last night but now I've got to decide on paint colors. Should be a fun project.

What Seventh said and, if you don't need more than one XLR connector, the Focusrite Scarlett Solo is a good choice and will save you some money. Depends on your need though. I prefer the 2i2 because I like the options the 2nd XLR connector provides me. Focusrite Scarlett Solo | GuitarCenter

    Ben Harper

I'm a fan although I don't love everything he does. The good stuff is really good, and if he'd just stick to not trying to rock out too hard, he'd be all win. Burn To Shine is my personal favorite album of his, and Both Sides of the Gun is pretty awesome as well.

Anyone tried this? Officially released yesterday for PC, PS4, and Xbone. Looks interesting, and it's gotten some good press, but if anyone here has it, how is it?

    The Bard's Tale 4

I spent so many hours playing 1 and 3 on my C64. I skipped 2 for some reason. Never beat 1 because my dungeon disk got crimped shortly after I completed the catacombs. All I could do was wander around the city after that so I'd end up soloing the statues for XP. Good times. Will watch where this...

    Suikoden 1 and 2

Suikoden 1 has been on PSN for PS3 for a long time (I've had it for several years now). Did they take it down at some point or something? Either way, fantastic game, and it's still fantastic all these years later. When I played Suikoden 1 on the PS1, the thing that stuck with me for so long was...

    Lords of the Fallen

Those guys can eat a dick. I rounded a corner after killing the Commander, thinking I'd just continue on, and stumbled into one of those. Apparently an area I simply wasnt prepared for. I haven't been putting any points into magic (I'm using Deception, have Mimic 1) or Faith but clearly that's...

    Lords of the Fallen

Speaking of bosses...how are they? I beat First Warden without too much fuss, although getting used to WHEN to attack (vs. what DS taught me) took a couple minutes. I thought the fight was cool enough to be hopeful that subsequent bosses will be interesting.

    Lords of the Fallen

Right on. I am running Win 7 64bit so hopefully that's the commonality. My rig is stout enough although my video card could use an update (i5-4690, 8gb DDR3, MSI r7850 TwinFrozr 2gb). I noticed the DLC thing as well. I tried to pre-purchase yesterday but Steam kept returning an error with my...

    Lords of the Fallen

After spending a couple of hours with this last night I have to say I enjoy it. Controls well (I tried both a controller and KBM) and, for any Dark Souls vets, you'll feel right at home. Your movements have a real weight to them, same with attacks. That part of the game is well done imo, as are...

(PC) - Ziggurat (fps magic rougelite)

I picked this up last night and did one run as well. I'll echo what Droigan said about the controller, and it worked way better than I expected. Quick turning, smooth movement. The only thing that took some getting used to (especially after playing borderlands the pre-sequel) was the really low...

    Borderlands - The Pre-Sequel

It was definitely definitely harder for me to outlevel the storyline quests as well, although I was never in any danger of dying in the final area or on the final boss. My first run through on BL2 felt far more brutal, and the first time I ran up against the warrior I got my ass handed to me...

    Borderlands - The Pre-Sequel

After playing a ton this weekend, I'm at, what appears to be, the final area and have some thoughts on my overall experience. First, the beginning portion of the game (I'd say the first 1/3) is really slow, especially compared to the Helios areas. Took me a while to get interested in the game...

    Borderlands - The Pre-Sequel

This, although Jack's lines are solid so far to me (likely mostly due to Dameon Clarke's delivery). Having fun with the game so far though, even if none of the characters are really all that appealing to me. Seems like in BL1 and 2 specific characters were instantly interesting. Not so here but...

    Dark Souls 2

Kept my 8 year old son home from school today so he could get the first crack at it. 4 bosses down so far (Dragonrider, The Last Giant, Pursuer, Flexile Sentry). He's better than me. He also wanted this picture posted on the internet so here you go: happiest kid on earth.

Diablo 3 - Reaper of Souls

I think the D3 armory is borked right now. I didnt even notice that the Thunderfury was listed as level 31 required but yes, the weapon is a game-changer, or at least has been for me. I just got lucky. My helm is pretty stellar as well, It seems to proc non-stop, but the belt is what really...

Diablo 3 - Reaper of Souls

I ran with socketed Shenlong's set for a long time which worked well but since the patch I've gotten a few really useful drops (see profile below: mainhand, belt, helm) that changed the game for me. I've never used Dashing Strike myself (and since I use Cyclone Strike as my usual opener I dont...

    What are you playing?

I've been playing Borderlands 2 and the last several months I've been watching my 8 year old son destroy Dark Souls. He's got 2 characters in NG++, beat the normal playthrough with at least 5 characters, and just keeps on playing. Kid is a savant. And I agree with you. I've got it for PS3 and...
