    Driverless Cars in 2016

See, the problem I have with this is that it's a stupid solution for a problem already solved by mass transit in Europe and Japan. These companies should just throw money at green mass transit rail systems. That's far more efficient than keeping the cars for what you're describing. To be...

    Driverless Cars in 2016

Yes, but iirc there is a warning with the system that says something like "this feature is for use on private property in controlled circumstances, not for use, or legal on public roads". Also, the law in CA right now still requires a pilot, even if the car is on auto-pilot. Which would seem...

    Malazan Book Of The Fallen

Cool. Thanks. I'm sort of too lazy to try to find it in my Kobo, but when Mallet (it might have been the first healer) is checking out Coll, he says something about the poultice causing the rot. I got the impression Coll's wound was intentionally made worse, but I can't remember anyone...

    Malazan Book Of The Fallen

Just finished Gardens of the Moon, first time reading anything from this fantasy. Got to admit, I was not immediately gripped by it. At first it just seemed like mindless dialogue advancing fantasy war gore porn. It felt a lot like Warhammer 40K copy (because of the morbid hopeless imagery...

Maybe deployed in a very limited market? I don't think these things have been operated outside of sunny warm climates yet. I'd like to see how they programmed to deal with, and differentiate between, deer and people, too. In general, I like driving and am not very interested in the function...

Your Movies of the Year list

Yeah, I would chalk it off as memorable, and well-made/intentioned, but not necessarily good. I have a really hard time watching sadism. Room is a much better adult-themed movie with a huge part played really well by a little kid (seriously, the kid in Room should get best actor). Not as...

Heavenstrike Rivals (mobile game from Square)

yup. it's much easier to add playable monsters and promote sales drives for them than to actually develop the game. real shame. even adding bigger play boards with some strategic elements would make a world of difference.

Your Movies of the Year list

Most memorable: Mad Max: Fury Road The Final Girls Room Joy Inside Out Goodnight Mommy (think this was actually 2014, though) Pitch Perfect 2 Ex Machina Might be adding Trumbo to that list, Martian and Uncle, too. Mad Max and Final Girls are all-time great movies.

If you grew up with Wizardry or Might and Magic, I did too, and yeah the games have certainly changed. It's all about stat meta games and simulating combat from whack-a-mole. I'm not as offended by this one, though. Maybe it's because I'm pretending its a modern Phantasy Star. A few of the minor...

    Creed (Rocky sequel)

Saw it last night, and I agree. I would put it right behind Rocky I and Balboa. I enjoyed it for the most part. But Rocky movies are showing their formula at this point. Wallace Rocks. Barksdale rocks briefly. Stallone is still charming but he seemed to be a lot more slow-witted in previous...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

The Operative from Firefly. There's a memorable bad guy! This would also make sense, and yet it would become another reason to hate the bottom-line-dictated IP that Disney controls. Then again, all those 8 year old girls saw Han Solo killed by his son, too.

I think this is sort of brilliant. It would solve my problems/questions with Kylo. Would Finn be the one to turn back Rey or kill her?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

I don't need him to be another movie bad-ass, and I'm fine with him being damaged and confused and even immature. But there's nothing intimidating about his countenance, voice, or design. I can see it being intentional (he's just a Vader devotee), but the other problem is that this character is...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Saw it tonight and enjoyed it. Some good: * Finn/Boyega was good and, strangely or not, reminds me of Matt Damon. * Poe/Isaac was good and reminds me of Kyle MacLachlan (Paul Atreides in Dune). * Rey/Ridley was good, although my wife complained that she was too good and automatic at...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Odds are against the Star Wars: TNG characters being as automatically charismatic as Ford (a great scoundrel), Hamill (a perfect farmboy), and Fisher (a perfect rebel princess) were. Jame Earl Jones voice acting was part of that, too. The new bunch seems cast for trendy market appeal, but they...

Yeah the city rap song really is just a high pitched Biggie goinguh uhover and over again. It's cringe worthy. I agree that the voice acting is good, but every conversation has too long of a pause between character lines. It's just badly edited together. That and the main character is mute...

    * there are no sound options in the game at all * the game only outputs sound to the gamepad during off-tv play. if you want to play on tv but use headphones, you will have to connect the headphones to a tv or stereo that is receiving the wii u audio output * apparently the game is only...

Similar look to the world and monsters. Combat system seems very similar so far (but imo easier to pick up with the gamepad than with the wiimote). Same sort of questing. As far as I can tell there is no carry-over of story or characters. In fact, the game doesn't seem as character and story...

58" screen usually about 8' away. I moved closer. Still a lot of other things bugging me. The camera still sucks imo. Don't understand how people are enjoying it so much. I feel like I'm playing a different game =/
  32. K

    Wii U

Yep, playing on a 58" at about 8' away. A font/ui size patch would definitely help. I think I wouldn't be so angry right now if I didn't have to squint at everything. I've got decent enough eyesight, too.

    Wii U

haven't found one yet. there are lots of options for the UI, but it mainly seems to be turning specific elements on or off. apparently the text size problem is a really common complaint. the text size isn't even legible on the gamepad. I don't remember any of the glowing reviews mentioning...

Heavenstrike Rivals (mobile game from Square)

I think that's a pretty fair assessment. I mean, the devs haven't even bothered to come up with new and differently sized maps. Thing is, the game is not new at this point and depth has been promised for many months. The only promises that seem to materialize are those of more special...

yep. or a unit with immobilize, like farmer giles or mustadio. or a unit that reduces attack, or a unit with knockback, or a unit that kills scouts and gunners pretty much outright, etc. there are a lot of interesting ways to counter in HSR

Heavenstrike Rivals (mobile game from Square)

Yep, gotta keep lanes blocked from scout attacks. There is also a legendary scout who can grant double attack to other units for a couple turns. If white mage is featured again, you'll want to farm for her.
