NoE handled the dubs for XC1 and those were fantastic (compared to most dubs at least). I think they just assume most people are going to use the JP subs, since the JRPG demo usually clamors for subs to be included.

There's 3 more Kingdoms you unlock after the ending. The first is unlocked after beating the story. The other two are at 250 and 500 moons. Don't need to collect the other 400 or whatever moons after that.

The split ones are fine for kids. I'd grab a Pro Controller if you as an adult plan on using it for any length of time though. As for games two kids can play or play with parents, Snipperclips (and Snipperclips Plus) would be really fun.

The games I've put the most hours into on the 3DS are Monster Hunter 3U/4U (over 300)/Generations, Zelda Link Between Worlds, Pokemon XY and Sun/Moon, Fire Emblem Awakening/Conquest/Birthright. Also various Etrian Odyssey and Shin Megami Tensei games.
