I've had no problems pushing through heroics without CC but you certainly aren't pulling 2-3groups as soon as you hit 610 ilvl. I enjoy the fact that you can actually wipe in them now but it really does show when some people are just bad, like dps doing 6k on bosses.

Make sure you're aware of what your spec can get, ie. frost DKs can get 2h and 1h weapons so if you want a 2h you should set your loot to blood or unholy, etc.

It is not faster to try and rank up. You need to go 5-0 to have a chance of placing in gold with a brand new unranked team. Going 4-1 would probably end up putting you Silver 1, which is a lot easier than playing from Bronze to Gold.

I really only ever got killed in the valley of the four winds around the stupid farm hub, and of course the dungeon speed leveling method is completely gank free.
