I get the Akira thing but I love this one mainly because it's still as monochrome as the others but it's not as "flat" as the duststorm/vegas posters or the polychrome US one. A coworker found a print of that poster but none in English. It's weird if that's the only locale that ran it.

Opens tomorrow (27th) in China. Doubt it'll do too well but it should push it past Alcon's git gud line. Interestingly it did super well in the UK where it earned 20m but the Aussies loved the FUCK out of it where it earned over 8m despite having a market less than a third of the UK's size.

Good point about Cylons but Replicants are organic; literally synthetic humans. They're grown in vats until they're adult-sized like that chick born in the movie. So they'd be ideal for shipping to some other planet as a frozen embryo. Wallace was talking about producing them in the trillions...

I kinda hate how they hedged their bets with the missile fix by adding a reacquisition radius stat tho. I get that an infinite reacquisition range would bump missiles from being the worst weapon class to being the best, but in practice the reacquisition ranges for even the endgame missiles end...

At the end game I usually build 3-4 different classes of battleships. I'll have a PD/strike-craft BB with PD and flak, medium weapon BB with a broadside fore section with high tracking weapons for medium/torpedo ships and BB with the X foremount with either giga kinetics or a tachyon lance. I...

Hiveminds and Machine races might actually lose out to hypercapitalist (materialist/xenophile/pacifists) that stacks happiness and +migration attraction. In fact, you'd need to do inward perfection with agrarian civics and racial traits to approach the growth potential of a crazily +migration...

One consequence of this movie's underperformance is that it won't be in those premium Dolby/XD theaters for much longer. So catch it this weekend if you haven't already. Best movie of 2017 unless Ep8 runs the tables. I finally caught it in 3D this week. It was pretty cool but I would've...

    RIP Visceral Games

I loved that baseline test scene. Apparently the original baseline test scenes had another blade runner conducting a newer VK test with two armed guards in the room. That antiseptic version felt more lived-in and "production mode".

Sapper didn't get enough screentime to judge, but he set the film's overall tone that sacrifice-IS-humanity within the first few minutes of the movie REALLY well. That's the distinguishing arc of the movie that improves on the philosophical challenge of the original: When Deckard screams "I...

Luv was the Roy Batty of this movie. She's the ACTUAL revolutionary---the one who does the grunt work and stoicly muddles through her servitude with tears flowing even as her entire body compels her to watch or act against her own interests. The most subversive lines the film were spoken by...
