Japan was also 30% of the 3DS and DS sales, and both of those outsold nearly every console except the Wii and PS2. It's not a bad thing. Yeah their share of the home console market has gone down but that's because they spend less time in their homes than most - they want mobile and handheld...

Japan is at 1.88 million as of last week's sales. The only thing Nintendo's Press Release said today was "Nintendo Switch has already surpassed 2 million units sold in the U.S. alone" - so all we know it it's sold at least 2 million in the US. Yes, the sales are going to crumble as we head...

Wow Ut you are really losing it. 4 rapid fire posts. Like Trump calling Fake News. NPD doesn't give hard numbers anymore to the public, I don't know why - probably leakers or something. It's been that way for like 4 years now. I wish the data was black & white like it is in Japan and the UK but...

Switch #1 selling console in September, according to NPD. Three straight months now. Nintendo also had 2/3rds of Septembers total hardware sales, when combined with 3DS and SNES Mini. Nintendo News: Nintendo Systems Claim Two-Thirds of September Video Game Hardware Sales

SanDisk you smart, targeting the uninformed customer. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010Q57S62/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2US4zbYN99FZY It's for the kind of people that buy Xbox branded HDDs for their 360s.

Stardew Valley, Axiom Verge, and Oxenfree all releasing on Switch this week. Don't think I'll rebuy Axiom Verge but definitely in for some portable Stardew Valley - will be great for the multiplayer patch when it hits later this year.

    SNES Classic - 9/29 - $80

N64 was my first console as a kid that was totally mine (I'm 32). My family had an SNES but I don't remember playing it much. Then I got heavy into EverQuest as a teen and even skipped getting the GameCube. I've played most the ones on DS/3DS/Wii and PS4. Still need to play the FF9 port on PS4...

    SNES Classic - 9/29 - $80

I've never played FF6. Going to start it up tonight on the SNES Mini. I never played FF12 either until the remaster on PS4 a couple of months ago and I really enjoyed that.

It's getting third party support from Bethesda at least. Doom 2016 port and it will get a port of Wolfenstein 2 which is a current gen AAA title unreleased. Not to mention it's gotten newest versions of NBA2k and Fifa. It supports UE4, Vulkan, and all other relevant middle ware that developers...

You forgot the physics simulator and the powers they game gives you to interact with the world (Gravity, Freeze, stop time, etc) which is what sets it apart. Anything you do in the world of BOTW you get a close real life result. Meanwhile in Horizon the only thing you can interact with in the...

I loved Horizon but it's not going to beat out Zelda BOTW, much less Mario Odyssey - it didn't do anything revolutionary, just did an open world very well and had a great setting/story. That's the way most game journalists/award publications think anyways if they have the option. Sort of like...

    SNES Classic - 9/29 - $80

Official Press Release from Nintendo today: That means over a million additional Super SNES will be available on Sept 29 - if their claim of more being available than the total NES Classic shipments in 2017. Also NES Classic coming back.

They don't just have one supplier. They aren't only getting NAND from Toshiba - that is just the one of the bigger suppliers. The problem is the global supply right now is maxed out, and it can't meet the current demand. It's limited by both the mining of rare earth metals, and the production...

    Nintendo Switch (previously NX)

What is the contingency plan? Having some other form of internal storage aside from NAND chips? That was locked into the design 2+ years ago when they started development on the Switch. This is an industry wide issue, and a pretty recent one. They can't throw money at it to fix.
  24. M

    Nintendo Switch (previously NX)

Yeah just ignore all the articles about Toshiba (one of the biggest makers of NAND chips) having to sell their NAND memory manufacturing arm because their close to bankruptcy from other parts of their company. All while trying to keep it operational to keep pumping out chips under massive demand.

They are making as much as they can. There is a global NAND memory shortage that is causing issues with mobile phone and tablet manufacturing - the bulk of it is going to Apple in their lead up to iPhone 8, because they are willing to pay the most.

Once they are at the store it's out of Nintendo's hands. They could do a better job of allocation from a country standpoint it seems though. Need to divert some from places like Spain back to Japan.

    Nintendo Switch (previously NX)

There's no reason for Nintendo to make a 3rd home console - MS and Sony already have that covered. If they wanted to sell units, they had to do something to differentiate themselves. Most don't take it out of the house in the US, but that doesn't mean they aren't using it as a portable. Either...

    Nintendo Switch (previously NX)

I mean, yeah? If there was no sacrifices for portability, then every console would be. It plays games at 1080p60fps in a 1 inch thick form factor. That means battery life and storage have to be sacrificed. Having people buy a $40 SD card isn't much of an ask - most the 3DS users who bought a...

Because it's NAND flash memory and is way more expensive per GB than say the hard drives in the other consoles or your computer. Remember the Switch is basically a tablet - check out the price difference between a 32, 64, and 128gb tablet. They'd have to pass that cost increase on to the...

Zelda BOTW is 14gb with all it's DLC, how could they not get NBA 2k18 compressed below 32? Pretty sure Macronix (who makes the carts for Switch/3DS) can make carts in any size, it's just going to cost too much to be worth it over a certain size.

They don't. Physical versions of Nintendo first party titles also keep huge re-sale value because of it, especially Pokemon/Mario/Zelda titles. Every once and awhile Nintendo will re-release titles as "Nintendo Selects" for 50-60% less but unless a game sells poorly (Star Fox Zero for example)...

    Nintendo Switch (previously NX)

It's actually pretty hard, compared to how easy I thought it would be. It just doesn't have any hard choices like X-Com - your skill trees and such can be totally re-done between battles so you can't gimp a character. It's got surprising amount of depth too - each character has 3 skill trees...

Nintendo games don't go on sale. Although technically this is a Ubisoft game. Played it for an hour or so last night and some during lunch today sitting in my truck so not far in, but so far it's fun and very polished. Music is great too. Perfect game for the Switch - can do a battle or two...

    What did you just read?

It was his first book after all, and I believe he said wrote most of it well before it was even published. Probably when he was still in college. He re-released it a couple years ago with some fixes - I never read the original version though. Stormlight is miles better than his first three...
